Excellent piece of kit - fits large, so size down
Picked this up for this season after reading a lot of reviews, and wanting waterproof kit for year-round riding. Jacket is very comfortable, breaths/vents very well (have ridden it from 40 degrees to 90 degrees and it's fit the bill for everything). This jacket (as it seems most of Klim jackets) run large. On paper I'm a shoo-in for a large, but was able to try a large and I was swimming in it. Medium (for me) leaves enough for layers, but doesn't feel like a tarp on me. If you're between sizes, size DOWN. Besides that, it's waterproof (haven't tested it in a torrential downpour, but so far it's kept me dry), comfy, and it comes with all the bells and whistles that I want and need.

Even better than anticipated!
Just the right weight, not heavy at all. Fits amazing, incredible construction. The D30 protection is just right. Best part, isn't bulky, allows great movement, very comfortable. Lots of ventilation, lots of pockets, durable. With the right undergarments, 4 season jacket.

Very good product
My jacket was as expected good quality and fit well. I can only give it four stars because it had a piece of velcro only partially sewn on. I had a relative fix it and it was fine. Sub par for an item in this price range.

Great product!
My only complaint is that I didn’t buy this sooner. This is a great product!

A Seriously Good Jacket
The image associated with this review is from my finish of the 2021 Iron Butt Rally. The Carlsbad Jacket and Pants worked well from frigid mountaintops to the swampy heat of the southeast. My trip included a torrential downpour from a tropical depression coming ashore. The Gore-Tex kept me completely dry. As a big guy, I appreciate that the gear is sized for the American body including the neck closure. I have an unusually large Neandertal neck and the jacket is cut to fit. Details such as the neck hooks, the front pockets, the incredible air circulating protective pads makes this a perfect jacket for long waisted riders.

Tremendous Update Not-quite Tremendous
Bought to use in place of Badlands Pro (12 years old). Badlands is still the go to in winter. This weighs a pound and a few ounces less, easier to don and doff at stops. Better ventilation than the Badlands. Fits well, doesn't make me look like the Michelin man as the Badlands does. Has proven to be waterproof, easy to use. No 'cons' at all. Only suggestion to KLIM is to make the sides and outside of the two main pockets 1" taller (as Aerostitch does) so that when folded shut, the pockets are relatively waterproof. As is, they have a half-inch opening on each side. But I knew that going in so its just there, not a bad thing.Better internal pockets than the Badlands Pro. It just feels good to wear. Noted a tag added to the gaggle of tags they zip tie to the zipper when new. Says that if this is damaged in a motorcycle accident, KLIM will replace it free. No mention of that in any of the on-line reviews. Cool!As info, I'm an Iron Butt Association member with multiple IBRs and rides. Have used the Badlands Pro for twelve-years and love it. I use the Badlands Pro pants with this jacket. I ride all year in the southeast, and my gear has to work.Highly recommended.Update 8/14/22Rode in four-hours of moderate rain today and the end result was that the contents of the right-hand "water-resistant" pocket got soaked, the left-hand "waterproof" pocket seeped water from the top, the two large side pockets which are not claimed to be waterproof or water-restistant lived up to that non claim with wet contents. Finally, even though I had the neck cinched up, I had water drip in on both sides of the center-line and soak the top of my riding shirt. So, next time it rains I'm going to cinch the neck HARD, move the contents of the two chest pockets to inside pockets, and not carry much that water can effect in the two large pockets to see what that will all do. Not what I expected to have to do with a $700 jacket Just as a note, I've worn a Badlands Pro for twelve-years and never gotten damp in days long monsoons. Maybe it was all in the collar tightness. I'll find out and update. Can't recommend the jacket at this point.
