Could this be one of the finest power tools made by any manufacturer for any purpose? Yes! It is powerful, the lightest, and comfortable to operate. I highly recommend.I own a wonderful antique house with clapboard siding on a fiercely wild northern shore, and have lived in and done mucho maintenance on two others along the coast. I've twice before ground the paint down to the wood/sticky paint on a whole house, once with a specialized paint-removal sander and once with a strong disc sander from another solid brand. This Makita disc sander is industrial strength with fewer things to break vrs. the specialized sander. It is more than a third lighter than the other solid brand's product. This makes a huge difference when you're up on ladders and staging and reaching up and down to difficult places. Given how rough, dirty and dusty heavy sanding can be, this tool still manages to achieve ergonomic excellence. Given how much time it takes to sand a whole old house, do yourself a favor: Don't mess around--get this superlative power tool.PS: Over twenty years of trial and error, I've found 80 grit to be the best for house grinding. Rougher tears up the wood; finer makes the job very tedious.
