The Little Red Hen: An Old Fable

This version of The Little Red Hen is a must own! In this version, the Hen bakes a cake. She goes through the story asking "Who will help me?" with each task and every animal says, "Not I". Of course, once the cake is ready, all of the animals are willing to help the Hen eat the cake. Hen says no, in order to help eat the goodies I make, you must help make those goodies. The story continues and shows how each animal is very helpful in the next baking project. I love that it ends with the animals willing to help in baking something else rather that just ending with, you did not help me make it, therefore you will not help me eat it. I feel like there is more of a learning lesson being taught by this version than other versions I have read.

One of my kids favorite book. Their teacher read this in class and asked me to buy it for her so she could read at home.

My kids love this book and I really like the authors take on the story. I'm a music teacher so I really appreciate the rhyming scheme used, which also fosters early reading success. The art work is fantastic too! I am so glad I invested in this book, it will be a treasure for all my kids!

A nicely illustrated version of a standard tale.And I wrote this "all by myself."
