Good idea poorly executed
Book needs an editor. Badly written scenes. Contrived situations. Unbelievable interactions between characters. Hey, we're on a deserted island and people are dying. Do those who just landed think it may be the weird guy they encounter there or buy his explanation it was ghosts without first seeing them? What do you think they did? Yeah, thought so.Didn't read the first book which may be part of the problem but then after reading this one have no desire to read anymore of this series. Cannot recommend.

WHAT A LIGHTHOUSE..... RUN
You had to love or hate this genre. For me is LOVE AT 1ST SIGHT with Riple's writing. The main character isn't an invincible "super-heroe", had many "human faults". That make the approach to him more easy. He felt, cry, drank, chain-smoke & live most of his life around ghosts. How could he return, help... Suffering PTSD, Depression. This time loose a love interest and the rest isn't history is a well wtitten book.I can't stop, I been reading them in order and love every second of it.I had all his books. Think I will enjoy reading them all!!! Don't let anyone told you. Buy the books and enjoy.Ron Ripley is one of those writers that could make anything with little or big things. You could feel fear, stress, die of terror, suspense but never being bored. Yay for Shane. The use of few "live" characters in between the lot of "dead ones" are great. So many dead interesting ones... The plot, the characters, the atmosphere, at every book change and you know the new characters and the changes of Shane, friends and his house ghosts.Ripley is an artist moving and creating that atmosphere of threat that never leaves. Every book I read from him is better and better.I could say many things from the book, but where is the fun in telling that you could read and enjoy?I'm very honest with my Reviews, not only for me, the author or other readers, how an author know when did something good or need improvement? How another reader believe in my review? If I didn't read the book, I don't Review. If the book is good, Review. If the book isn't good, Review. With that we all benefit, readers, authors & readers searching for something new or special. My opinions are my own. You can find me at Amazon under: MASTERI

Lots of Vomiting Takes Place
I read the first book in this series and, while it wasn't great, it wasn't bad so I thought I'd give the next book a shot. The writing is very simplistic and there are typos. One glaring typo is the use of 'their' instead of correctly using 'they're'. Every character vomits at least once and some characters vomit frequently throughout the story. That's not necessary to the story and it becomes annoying. I found myself speed-reading to finish. I'm going to read the next book in this series because I like the main character and I enjoy ghost stories, however, three strikes and you're out if the next one is as disappointing as this book. This book has potential - a lot of it - but it falls flat.

The Lighthouse
Interested in lighthouses? Do you find them fascinating or intriguing? I do. In this book, lead make character Shane goes on assignment to Squirrel Island Lighthouse house. There's a problem... The Lighthouse and the property around it is believed to be haunted: too many deaths disappearances , and other strange events occur that are difficult to explain. So Shane takes the assignment knowing there's possible danger. One his first or second night in duty, he has some unexpected guests - a group of inebriated college age kids who preinstalled at the Island. Shane is is hospitable and takes them in. Soon after, strange, scary and even gruesome things occur. It is anyone's guess who will survive the nights and days or if any will ever leave the darkened Island. If you like suspense perhaps this is the book for you... Go ahead - read.

(3.5 stars) Liked it
I think I'm getting into this genre ;-) . I read the first book in the series and thought it much better than this one, but liked them both. Won't win any awards, but I like the main character, Shane, very much and will read others in the series. It is becoming addicting I guess. Never read ghost/horror much in the past, and I make sure to avoid the super scary books, but I do like Mr. Ripley's stories for a good shot of ghost creepiness.(One critique below if I may, and it's a spoiler so be aware....)At the end Shane came back to destroy the bones - with a bottle of lighter fluid and a book of matches (!!) Sure, right, that will work. That fire wouldn't be anywhere near hot enough to reduce bones to ashes. Crematoriums have fires in excess of 1400F to accomplish this. Oh well, liked the story anyway...;-)

Not as good as the first one
I really liked Berkley Street...so much so that I immediately bought The Lighthouse and began reading. Unfortunately, it felt like someone else had written it... someone less talented and in a hurry. There were still good moments, but disappointing over all. The excerpt from the next one sounds promising. I'll give it a shot. If it's like this one though, I'm afraid that's where I'll get off the ride.

Fantastic! I truly loved The Lighthouse!
The Lighthouse (Berkley Street #2) by Ron RipleyShane, and ex-Marine and Ghost Hunter, is asked by his friend Marie, to rid The Lighthouse of an unwanted ghost (Dorothy). This is a task that he is used to, but peoples lives are in danger, so he must go about this with caution.A fast paced thrilling paranormal story that moves at a fast pace. The plot is original, with a dash of humor, engaging dialog and Ghosts. Shane is very likable, plus they are on the East Coast in a Historic Lighthouse (which I found extremely enjoyable). I highly recommend The Lighthouse to those who love a great ghost story. Definitely five-stars!

The thrills keep on coming in the 2nd in the series.
Ron Ripley is certainly an author to follow as he keeps the thrills coming in this follow up.Nothing follows the usual run of the mill haunted story lines.Highly recommended.

Thanks to Ron for this entertaining read
What a great book, kept my interest from beginning to end,I know all authors need to earn a living but Ron giving this book for free on the kindle bookstore has introduced me to his work and I was thoroughly engrossed , will definitely read another of his books in the future, easy to follow plot, likeable characters , and suspenseful page turner.

Scary witha dose of horror.
Just what you you need on a cold windy night perhaps with flickering lights altogether a great read if you scary with a dose of horror and just the thing to think about next time you visit a lighthouse.
