Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Symphonies in Full Score (Dover Orchestral Music Scores)

A very promising product, too bad the ink flew past many pages on the edition I received... It really seems like this can be a great product, if the print quality wasn't so weak and poor so often.This surprised as I have other such products by Dover Publications and their print is very fine (even when compared to greater music editions such as Boosey and Hawkes).I would be glad to update this review if it was possible somehow to get a better copy where the printer didn't run out of ink...

I'm a HUGE Tchaikovsky fan and his symphonies are the biggest reasons as to why (particularly these last three). I'm planning on getting my degree in music composition and have written many different pieces, so as one would assume Tchaikovsky's music has had a huge influence on my own writing style. I've studied his music before via imslp, but it gets rather old after a while having to view it from a pdf file and scroll the pages to find certain spots. This however is perfect for studying! It's great to be able to take notes and mark on the pages what chords he used in certain progressions, how he used the French Horns (or whatever instrument), where rhythmic themes occur that you didn't realize before, etc... But anyways, I'm loving simply just being able to follow the music on the pages while listening to it. But regardless, if you're looking for affordable sheet music for these three symphonies this is an excellent choice in my opinion. The notes, dynamics, expressions and everything and very clearly marked. Highly recommend it! Great investment!

This is a good edition of Tchaikovsky's most popularly performed symphonies. Its greatest quality is its usefulness. It is a large score with room enough for notes and revisions, and the medium print makes it a bit easier on the eyes than some scores. Due to its quite low price one is more inclined to use it without apprehension, though it will eventually fall apart due to the lower quality of the materials. I have found that it can take pencil markings without tearing the pages, and really that is good enough. Its "lay flat" binding makes this easier for podium or desk work as well as simply holding it with one hand.

Tchaikovsky has long been my favorite composer, and his Fourth Symphony my all time favorite piece of music. The pleasure of listening to a fine recording (such as the Chicago Symphony's) is only heightened by following along in the score. This edition is easy to read, and as the symphony progresses, turns into a real page-turner! Nuances of the work appear in black and white, and even the smallest detail becomes crystal clear. See the note on the page, and hear it played, and the exquisite detail will never be lost in the hearing again. Analyze Tchaikovsky's brilliance, but most of all, lose yourself in his stunning melodies and especially in the case of the Fourth, his enchanting use of the woodwinds, but most of all, enhance your listening to his genius.

LETTERS: All three scores include.MEASURE NUMBERS: Nos. 4 and 5 have them, No. 6 does not.Very good considering the price, it's worth it. The only true downside is that No. 6 doesn't have measure numbers.

Clean score, and good printing. A good score for scrupulous minimalists. However, the score came crinkled on the cover and some pages were folded in.

I buy these scores strictly as an amateur. I can't even read music very well. But I find them invaluable in trying to work through the structure of music that I love. So for that purpose, this is perfect. I seriously doubt these scores would be of use for any purpose other than private study, but for that they are perfect.

I bought this as a birthday gift for my teenage godson. I thought he might like it, but he is having trouble putting it down. Would certainly recommend this edition to anyone who likes the best-know Tchaikovsky symphonies. And has some knowledge of music notation of course!

I am so pleased with my copy of the scores of the 4th 5th and 6th Tchaikovsky Symphonies. It was delivered within three days in the excellent condition it was advertised as and at a very good price.

As one get older and eyesight more suspect miniature scores become much less attractive to struggle with. This volume is superbly produced and clear to read. It represents terrific value and is well up to the normally excellent production standards and 'house-style' of Dover Scores. An invaluable investment for any lover of Tchaikovsky's music.
