Cool lotr gift
My son is going on a visit to New Zealand so he can record his memories in this. Will be visiting film locations so design is appropriate.

Crap quality
Stitching is awful, it is not even straight comes right off the page.Crap quality, you could buy a decent leather bound note book for the price of this crap.

Cool for LOTR lover
This journal is pretty cool looking. The bookbinding is solid and the closure works well. The cover feels a little fake but it's a good color and the embossing is great. The pages are smooth and unlined, and have a good weight to them.

Very cool
We're big movie fans and also big Lord of the Rings fans. I have a much larger, handmade version of this journal but this one is just as nice. The detail on the cover is really nice and the paper is nice and sturdy. The journal comes with a lot of pages to fill in. The paper is sewn into the cover, which is pretty awesome to see. It makes the journal look like it's old and handmade.

Lovely gift for Tolkien enthusiast
This journal is coptic bound and uses a slightly fragile paper with a slightly too-thick leather cordage to bind it. That's really my only complaint at all. In every other regard this is an excellent journal, a fine gift for the scholar who loves Tolkien's works. The leather is prettily tooled with the Doors of Durin symbol from the mines of Moria, depicted in The Fellowship of The Ring. Great value!

A bit plastic feeling
Other than the leather feeling a bit like plastic and the metal snap leaving a discolored indentation on the first page, this product is exactly as described and functions as one would expect. I don't know anything about bookbinding, but I am thankful there are separated chunks of paper bound and not one huge chunk that would have made the pages really uneven. I do wish I had a bunch more like it so it didn't stick out so apparently on the shelf with other books! It is a fun novelty item for fans of the source material!
