Rick Steves Barcelona (Travel Guide)

My husband and I were planning a cruise and vacation to Europe. We read Rick Steve's Travel Guides after watching a couple of his TV shows on Europe. We spend four days in Barcelona - we love the city and want to go back! We could not visit everything we wanted to see. Rick covers many great ideas in his guide and helped us determine some of our best sites to see.

I always begin planning every trip to Europe by buying a Rick Steves guidebook as a starting point. The Barcelona book is, as usual, extremely informative and full of excellent and money-saving tips that orient you to the city and provide valuable suggestions that will enhance your stay. A nice, simple, pull-out map is always included and, especially for planning purposes, they are invaluable. Once Rick orients you to your destination, you are ready to explore further online as you nail down the details. I have not been to Barcelona yet, but I have been reading the book closely, and already know how many days I want to be there, what I will do, etc. This is the sixth book of his that I have bought. He also has a wonderful website, and perhaps you have seen his television show on PBS. No, Rick did not pay me to write this review. He's just THAT good.

We spent 6 days in Barcelona and found this guide very helpful in two ways. One, it contains plenty of info on the sights, recommended activities, and basic stuff like transportation, money, and practical suggestions. Two, it has opinions about sights, museums, and activities that we found very helpful - almost like personal advice from a friend.There's a lot to do in Barcelona - we loved it - but there's no way we had time to do even half the stuff in this book in 6 days. So don't get exhausted reading it. With all the focus on sights and things to do, one of Rick's best pieces of advice was to allow some unstructured time and walk the narrow streets of the old city. This was one of our favorite activities.Enjoy your trip!

You already know you can’t beat Rick Steves for a travel guide book. This is no exception. We use his books for all the cities and countries we visit, and would not even consider another book for Barcelona. Great walking tours (we love these) and maps for each one. Excellent tips on getting into and visiting the various sights. Just the best book ever. Don’t visit any major city without a Rick Steves guide book!

Decent book. Didn’t use it for restaurants but liked it otherwise. Surprising it didn’t have Montserrat as it’s nearby day trip.

I have never been disappointed in any of Rick Steve’s travel guides. They are informative, well written and provide excellent details for affordable, yet delightful destinations. I have selected many of his recommendations and have been very pleased with the choices. I never travel anywhere without first getting Rick Steve’s guides.

I am grateful, because I decided before I went to Barcelona to purchase this book. Thank God I did it! It save us so much time looking for all the places of interest of this beautiful city. We followed Rick Steves itinerary, for four days and It was just perfect for us!!! We really recommend it for those who want to travel and save money and enjoy the city at the same time. It will also help you to save time. Thank you Rick Steves!!! Love your book!

I really value the pertinent transportation section - especially between sites and locations. Write ups and walking guides are a close second in value!

Really enjoy the detail info of all aspects of this book
