Great Simple Tool!
I decided to tile a somewhat small bathroom floor (6 X 8). It was my first time tiling so I went out and got all the trowels and floats. I used the trowel for putting the thinset onto the floor. However, I decided to butter back each tile. I was on my knees holding the tile in one hand and trying to butter back the tile. The trowel was a little too big and just clumsy to handle. So, my friend had let me borrow his small plastic notched spreader and it was so easy maneuverable. Every tool has purpose. Some great tools are inexpensive. Some are expensive. This one is so inexpensive, but yet so effective. I order a few of these and gave them to some friends!

Good, but I wish it had a finer and V shaped notches.
Before I purchased this spreader, I made one myself from a silicone spreader (cut notch by notch with a utility knife), to apply wood glue on large wood veneer surfaces. It worked very well, but it wore out and I found this. For my application it would have been better if the notches were V-shaped, instead of square. The reason is that the glue tends to self levering easier with V-shaped while the glue dries up (I let the glue completely dry and apply heat to bond the two peace). Also, 1/16" (1/8" pitch) notches is too large for this type of application ands I wish the manufacturer had a finer version of that: 1mm (2mm pitch) V-notched.
