Great product, great value- fleas are gone!
I've been using Advantage for flea control for several years, and Amazon is one of the best places to get it. You can't beat $10 a month for large dog flea protection. I also use one tube split into fifths (via syringe measurement) to give to my cats. Advantage II specifically is exactly the same product, in different dosages, for both dogs and cats. My 70-lb Lab gets a full 40 ml tube by herself, then the cats get 8 ml each and my brother-in-law's two ferrets get 4 ml each. I can cover 7 pets for $20 a month- a fantastic deal. The Advantage makes a noticeable difference in my pets' comfort- towards the end of the month, when it's wearing off, they begin to get itchy and uncomfortable. Once I reapply, that stops within a day or two, and they're happy and flea-free again all month.I have noticed that if our dog regularly gets into water (pool, beach, sprinklers), the Advantage wears off much quicker, despite claiming to be waterproof. That's understandable in a topical treatment, so we try to keep her out of water until the end of the application cycle, before a new treatment- then she gets to get wet to her heart's content! If you need to bathe your dog to kill fleas before applying, be sure to wait a day or two after the bath to give your dog's natural skin oils a chance to bounce back- it helps to distribute the medication.Be aware: this product is alcohol-based, and will evaporate quickly if left out in open air (we use a glass baby food jar to split the dosages in the syringe). It has also stripped the lacquer off the dining table when a few drops spilled while splitting doses, so try to avoid that too! Other than that, Advantage II is, in my opinion, the best topical flea control.

Gets the job done
It's hard to find an affordable, OTC flea repellant that applies monthly on the neck and WORKS. This stuff does the job.I have two 25 pound dogs and the small dog application is way smaller and ridiculously expensive. Our monthly budget is super tight, but I must take care of my animals, so I went looking for a cheaper way to get a good OTC flea repellant that works. This WORKS. For me. I can't guarantee it'll work for you, of course. I don't know you, I don't know your dog. Duh. Fleas are different all over the nation and some have developed immunity to this kind of repellant and some repellants just don't work.Disclaimer: I'm about to tell you what I do with this. If you decide to do the same, I take no responsibility for your results. I'm just saying this works for me.Ok, so I did some research on The Innernetz. I found out that if you get the extra large dog size, you get way more medicine for your money. It makes it cost way less per ml. I got this item. I got a little, airtight, really secure glass bottle, and a 1.0ml syringe. All from Amazon. The research I found said to use 1.2ml for a 25 pound dog. So at the beginning of every month, I open one extra large dog application, squirt it into the little glass jar, stick in the blunt syringe, and pull the plunger all the way, which is about 1.2ml. I then apply it on my dogs just as I would the small dog application. No fleas in our house. Thank GOD. Because once they get in, they're almost impossible to get rid of, and it's crazy-making. BTW, dusting diatomaceous earth and using an insect growth regulator are a good way to get rid of an infestation.

Worked for years, losing effectiveness over time
I have 9 cats and 1 corgi dog that weighs in at 30 pounds. I was looking for something that would be cost effective and safe for both cats and dogs, in the proper dose. My vet taught me how to dose the product out for the different weights of my animals and that has saved me a lot of money while keeping my fur family healthy. The chemical that is in this product started out working very well. Over the years it seems to be losing its effectiveness earlier each month. The fleas would start dying off and the animals would be comfortable all summer, with uninterrupted application. Now they will be back to itching after 2 weeks. In addition, some of the cats have developed lumps at the application site. I have a couple that are sensitive to the chemical and would foam at the mouth....we had to adjust the "standard" dose down. There is also the smell....it is all consuming and fills the whole house, lingers on your hands and furniture and leaves their coats greasy looking at the application site.Despite what sounds like negative aspects, the product worked for years and is better than being flea infested!! I am sad that it's loosing effect, so I have switched to a different product with a different chemical. Perhaps alternating chemical treatments from year to year would stop the fleas from building a resistance to one product??

Good product
Works well for my doggo! Just have to watch pricing as it can get pretty pricey. I go between this and Revolution...same for my cats

Works on battle with fleas
I have always used Advantage on my two cats and one dog. I just adopted a pit and started her out on this as soon as she got home, since spring is right around the corner. works and she has no side effects, except for no fleas.
