Call Me Ixchel: Mayan Goddess of the Moon (A Treasury of Glorious Goddesses)

Just finished reading to my 1st grader (named Ixchel) and my kindergartener. The first grader was fascinated and wanted me to keep reading. Kindergartener was bored. I’ll have them read again when they’re older, but it was a great story. I wish there were more stories like this about Mayan and Aztec gods. We will be reading the Athena and Isis books next.

Written as a nice story that is easy to read to our little one.

Call Me Ixchel is not only a fascinating glimpse into an otherwise little-known Mayan goddess, it's beautifully written and a compelling read. And it's not just for girls, since it reads like a Rick Riordan book, deftly integrating Mayan folklore while taking the reader on an exciting adventure through magical worlds. Highly recommended.
