Black Box Leather Conditioners are different in many ways. Our patented soy based formulas contain no lanolin. Lanolin is found in many inexpensive leather conditioners. Lanolin is used because it is made of purified animal fats. Animal fats are cheap to produce but provide a excellent food source for bacteria growth in and on your leather. Black Box's soy based leather conditioner formulas do not provide any food source oils for bacteria or mold to grow. So when your leather starts to smell "funky" and getting discolored areas on it, it is probably because of mold or bacteria is starting to grow in or on the leather. When you apply Black Box's soy based formulas, the soy oil provides a natural bacterial preventing oil to the leather which helps protect against this mold and bacteria growth. This is very important on leather that comes in contact with an animals skin in protecting the animal plus our soy based leather conditioners help prevent the start of this bacteria and mold grown when the leather comes in contact with a host source of bacteria (like when a person sweats). Contrary to popular belief, the best time to treat leather is when its brand new. That way, Black Box leather conditioners can be applied to a clean dirt free surface. This will help set up a protective barrier and also help lubricate and recondition the leather fibers so that they can "break in" easier and faster without trying to make a dry leather stretch and conform to a new environment that it is not used to. When you use Black Box leather conditioners on your new leather, you will see boots break in faster and leather seats readily adapt to the person or persons sitting on them with our deforming or cracking the leather. The leather conditioners will also help lubricate and condition any stitching in the leather.
