A Decent Accompaniment to a Great Album
To begin with, it's a pleasure to see an expanded reissue of Falco's work, particularly made available in the UK (though I wonder for how long Amazon will stock this product) - He's a pretty niche artist outside Austria and maybe Germany. So to see his work still being appreciated and made available warms the heart.Plus, well, Emotional is my favourite album of his - I find it to be his most consistent. Falco 3, the previous effort from the Austrian singer, has some standout tracks, but Emotional has each and every song proving unskippable. This box set is pretty cool, and reminds me of other releases over the years like Queen's 'Live at Wembley' CD/DVD box set, or the 4CD Sonic Temple box set from The Cult. The first disc is the remastered album, which sounds just as fresh and timeless as it no doubt did nearly 40 years ago.The second and third CDs are an odd choice. You'll love them if you happen to like the tracks, 'Emotional' and 'The Sound of Musik', which, to be fair, were among the album's three singles. There's almost no end to the various types of mixes and versions of the title track and 'Musik', some clocking in at over ten minutes. They're an interesting listen, but most people will be bored of them by the second or third mix, let alone fifth. It's a shame that, it appears, there's not much bonus stuff or alternate takes of other songs on the album. I would have loved to see an early version of 'The Kiss of Kathleen Turner', or the start of 'Cowboyz and Indians'. But perhaps such recordings just don't exist. If they did, I'm sure they'd be included.Disc 3, also, is essentially just shortened or instrumental versions of everything on disc 2. So whilst a lot of it may appear 'new', you're not getting as much varied material as you'd perhaps think. But nevertheless, it's a nice touch, and provides an insight into all the bells and whistles Falco liked to flex in the studio.Disc 4, really, is what you're buying this box set for. As far as I know, there's not a *lot* of live Falco footage out there, especially a concert in its complete form. This does seem to be the first time this gig has been released in full, at least, and it's a treat. True, by today's standards, it's not the best quality. But it's still more than watchable, and more than worth it for the hour-long set, including an impressive version of 'Kathleen Turner' - a track I thought would be near impossible to capture live. The concert's two ultimate tracks, 'Vienna Calling' and 'Rock Me Amadeus' are also titanic - you can really see the crowds go mad for Falco - and help provide some variety from the Emotional album. It's all packaged nicely, and the booklet that comes with the set isn't bad - it has a nice overview of the production of the album and Falco's life up to that point, in both English and German, as well as complete lyrics.Overall, not bad at all. Especially given it's affordable price. As I said, I'll take any new Falco material, and it's great to see a lot of real thought and effort put into this release - it's not some slapdash affair capitalising on an arbitrary anniversary. Would be great to see a similar thing for Falco 3 sometime, or Nachtflug. There's not quite hours of new stuff to explore here - it's not a whole new world to get lost in - but it's still a lot. And hopefully the start of more.

Finally a fantastic album reissued
This is an amazing album, some.of his best recordings are included. Great to have it finally reissued with the additional remixes and b sides. Reminds me I was once a young skinny teen :-(

Falco - Emotional 3 CD/DVD Deluxe
I first came across this album in 1986. I bought the single The Sound Of Music on 7" & 12" and played them many times. My friend had the Emotional album which we listened to many times. When I saw this remastered collection available to buy on Amazon at a very good price it was a no brainer. Great product + great price + Falco fan = buy.
