Black Dog LED PhytoMAX-2 400 | LED Grow Lights | High Yield Full Spectrum Indoor Grow Light with Bonus Quick Start Guide

I have two of these units that I use every spring to start my veggie seedlings, the first purchased several years ago, and the second just purchased in 2021. The cases are made of thick steel and the case is held together with drilled and tapped hardware, not some flimsy sheet metal screws. About the only differences are that the older unit has vent fans that blow towards the ceiling, and the new unit has the fans on the side of the case. The older unit also has a sheet of glass that protects the led lights, but I noticed that it is becoming a bit dusty and may require a bit of disassembly in order to clean; I'm assuming this is why the new unit omits this item.

I bought this Black Dog LED 400 on December 27th 2017 and one corner of the lights stopped working on it. Today is March 30th 2018. I need to know what the return policy is. The light worked great till today!

So the light seems great. Super solid build, nice looking product made in USA. But it would have been nice to at least get an instruction manual with the light, like a simple quick start reference guide deal, I mean even the Chinese lights give you a guide chart and Mars Hydro even throws in all kinds of stickers, lol. for the price of the light I think a minimum amount of literature about the product should be included in the box. Care guide, warranty information, etc again, even the Chinese light provide that and at a Way better price point.Probably gonna go with mars hydro sp3000 looks like a great all around light (and the sp3000 comes with literature and STICKERS!! 😆 )Update. I got two of these lights, one came missing two stickers on the case of the light one of those Being the ul listing and the other the black dog warranty sticker. The second light came with two screws on the panel half ways in and obviously stripped. Does black dog have second graders working for them???

Love everything about this light and brand.

So far these have exceeded my expectations. Very low heat comes off these. I had one liked it so much I bought a 2nd...They are a bit pricey but imho I think there worth every penny so far. I use's a lot less electricity and my A/C doesn't need to run as much. The plants seem to love the spectrum.One word of caution ! if you use the 220v plug with a timer as with many LED lights the " timer" can leak a little voltage. I found out from the company that a few LED lights may stay on. So double check... This is not the lights fault but the " Timers" leak voltage and LED's do not need much to run..I would buy these lights again ! Love them.Wait ! about 1/4th of the LED's just went out. Guess i'll get to see how there warranty works. only problem is I"M USING IT ATMWait ! just had about 1/4 of the LED's go out on one. :( Guess ill see if there warranty is any good.. Only problem is I'M USING IT !

Excellent product

I’ve been using the phytomax 2 - 400 for about 2 months now and Im very happy so far with the light and the company! It’s extremely well made and and in the (USA) and the lack of heat compared to a 600w hps is incredible!! I’m in Oregon and I’m set up in my garage and what I’ve noticed is with the outside temp and the light temp it keeps my 3.5 x 3.5 tent at the perfect temp of 68 f. Light off and 75f. - 78f. Light on. I have a speed controlled inline fan but it’s not 100% needed to vent heat (again huge difference in lack of heat from this light)!! Canopy penetration is fantastic as well! I wish I had a full harvest to review but seeing the reviews I just wanted to add what experience I’ve had so far with my black dog, also I would add that anyone who thinks it’s too expensive to consider that if your going to grow indoors for flower then you should be spending the most amount of money on your light above all the other products you need to grow because it’s the most important piece of the setup! You can be cheap with just about everything else and adapt but if your light sucks then your flowers are going to suck! Don’t waste your time and money and do some research on the other lights available, I did and I ended up at black dog even with no prior knowledge of the company or their lights I felt they were the best option for me and so far I’m very happy but again I need to see what I harvest before I’m 100% sold on leds. To anyone at black dog... do you guys have a place the customers can post pics or show what they have grown using your lights? I would love to show people what I’m seeing and growing with this phytomax 2-400.

1st of all. Why would you pay a grand for cheap LEDs? These aren't even Samsung Chip/LM301BsAnd probably thee most garbage foot print for the money aswell, this is literally junk and false advertising lol.Buy any other light, as long as its the samsung diodes, its a win. This light however, is actual trash for the money.
