Great counting book for PreK!
As a retired Librarian, I love Karma Wilson's 'Bear' books. This book helps little ones with understanding the concept of numbers as well as recognizing the number 1 - 5. It's cute, concise and colorful... all the things you need to begin teaching numbers!

this is PERFECT for us
Firstly, yes, this book only counts to 5. However, for my toddler who just turned two and is just now learning to count, this is PERFECT for us! The poem style is sweet and consistent with the rest of the bear series, the drawings and colors are perfect, and each page we are able to count multiple groupings of each number (1-5). My toddler brings this to me all the time to read, he loves it and he's already starting to count to three! I cannot believe the 1 star reviews because it only counts to 5, that's hardly a reason to rate the book low.

My Son's Favorite
This book is absolutely precious. It has amazing content, beautiful illustrations, and plus it's a board book so tiny hands can handle it without ripping it's pages. It is my son's FAVORITE. He loves to cuddle up with us and read it during the day. We will be buying LOTS more of the bear books.

Wonderful book series!
Love these books for my 3yr old son and 5yr old daughter! Found them in a Chick-fil-a lunch and we just fell in love with the series! Very well written and pictures are extremely accurate. Enjoy the out of the norm use of different species’ names as well.

Love Bear but not my fav
I love the Bear books & my 3yr old does too. We have several. She needed help in the number department and recognizing what the written number looks like. This was a miss for me. :-( Had I known that the counting only goes to 5, I wouldn't have bought this one. I wanted a counting book to 10. Also each written number is followed by an exclamation point. For example: 1!, 2! and so on. That's not too helpful with number recognition. I wish there was no punctuation. I was going to get the color book as well but now I'm not so sure. But again, we love Bear & his friends but this was a miss for us!

Good Book
Used this book for my pre school classroom read aloud. Enough words and pictures/visuals to keep 3-5 year olds engaged but not long enough to lose them.

Always a win with Bear!
The media could not be loaded. You can count on Bear to bring you a good read aloud book. Beautiful illustrations by Jane Chapman and lyrical text by Karma Wilson. Wonderful story to add to your collection.

Lovely number book to engage little ones
This is a wonderful book as other reviews have stated. Bright and beautiful illustrations. Engaging & fun. A lovely story to go with it so it's not just numbers. One flaw, I notice that on the last number page the actual number is missing and only the word is spelled out, unlike other pages where there is both the word and number (1 & ONE). Other than that super fun.
