USB C Hub, Sinstar 8 in 1 Aluminum Multi Port Adapter Type C Combo Hub for MacBook Pro USB C Hub to HDMI Male (4K) Type-C Pass Through, Ethernet, SD/Micro Card Reader and 3 USB 3.0 Ports (Silver)

I bought this around 2 years ago (at time of review) to be a single connection point for my USB-C laptop. It checked all the features I needed: Pass through charging, USB 3 ports, HDMI, ethernet, and card readers. It has spent all its life on my desk. The build quality is sweet. The aluminum shell feels great, the plugs are solid, and the short male USB end is flexible.However, there is one glaring issue with my unit that has progressively worsened over my almost 2 years of ownership: A randomly occurring blackout on the HDMI out. This single-handedly will be the reason I end up throwing this away (sadly). I can overlook the getting hot issue - I've used first generation laptops capable of melting your legs. It isn't hot enough to be a fire hazard. But I can't overlook the blackout issue. Randomly the HDMI out attached screen will abruptly tear to black, and the HDMI provided audio will make a jump inducing glitching noise before going silent. After a few seconds, the screen returns to normal and sound resumes. Originally this didn't happen very often and was just an afterthought of an annoyance. Now once the unit warms up, it's almost constant - we're talking at least a few times ever couple of minutes. It throws off typing, screws up watching videos, and absolutely destroys any gaming experience. Any time/input critical work has to be done on the laptop's screen, which defeats the purpose of having the dock entirely.In summary, I really want to like this adapter. The physical build quality is top notch. The blackout issue is a huge bummer. While typing this review, it happened about 7 or 8 times.

Works well and matches silver MacBook perfectly! Tends to overheat after being plugged into power for a while. Best to plug power into the second USB-c port instead.

High quality construction, aluminum case conducts heat, HDMI works well as do the three USB ports and SD slot.I run an external screen and logitech wireless keyboard and mouse - I attach the unifying receiver to a USB extension cable so that it is not sitting behind the Sinstar hub directly - I found that the aluminum case tends to block the bluetooth signal. I also put the Sinstar on a metal trivet to act as a heat sink to help keep it cool.Device does run warm when laptop is active but is cool when laptop is put to sleep.

I have it for about a week now and it works as expected, without any issues at all. I have tried all 3 USB 3.0 ports, the Ethernet and the USB-C port for charging and they all work perfectly. Haven't tried the HDMI or the card readers yet. The hub itself is slim, with a nice design and a small blue light to show it's plugged in. Overall a good purchase that does what it promises. Hopefully it will last too, although they give you a lifetime warranty of something happens.

I was looking for an option to continue using my new Macbook Pro for all of the tasks I needed as a high school teacher. However with zero USB ports, SD slots, headphone jacks, etc. I was expecting to have some bumps in the transition. This hub allowed me to pick up on day 1 of my new computer just as always - I was able to connect to my classroom monitor, upload videos from a camera, and hardwire audio just like always. I've used it for a few months with no issues.

I've been using this hub daily for about 6 months now. No hiccups, no problems. Seems to be made of high quality materials and has turned out to be very reliable. I'm using every single port on it, too.EDIT: After 9 months, the HDMI port started flaking out. It will disconnect randomly after the unit heats up. Downgraded from 5 to 3 stars.

Ordered 2 and received both units in good condition.Tested them in my HP Elite X360 1030 G2 and both units work very well.PD function, HDMI, SD card, Micro SD card USB 3 ports, all work fine with above lap top.Have not yet tested RJ45 port.I mainly chose it for the beautiful shape of the device and very good reviews.Up to now I am not disappointed.

Awesome reliable performance, especially for monitor (many other adapters flicker). The only thing is that I can't get ethernet to work (it detects the connection but I can't get an IP address; so I plugged Ethernet via a USB-A adapter into the hub which works). And all USB-A ports, power, and HDMI monitor work great so I'm set.

I am not really an apple person, but had to use a Mac for work, however I really love this product.It is really well built with a premium feeling chassis and honestly as good as if apple had built it.
