This is a great book for a child who is dealing with dyslexia. Mydaughter was very pleased with it since her son was just diagnosed.

Great at highlighting dyslexia, but not the greatest story.....my 8 year old found it dull

Cute pictures not much to the story
This book is fine- it covers the topic of dyslexia but I disliked that Tom was encouraged to โfind his nicheโ and it kind of glosses over the very real challenges dyslexic children experience and that just as important as finding their niche is the realization that they can become good readers and writers with appropriate remediation. The message is more โfind your thingโ and not acknowledging that they still need to be able to read/write.

Nice into. Not patronizing.
Nice introduction. Short. Lots of pictures. Good for dyslexics:-)

A special book for special kids
The storyline is interesting and yet simple enough for my sons to understand the values and also at the same time, enjoy the book.

Good book
My 8-year old daughter has dyslexia and enjoys "reading" (i.e. listening) this book with me.

Useful book
My daughter has recently been diagnosed with dyslexia so I bought this to help her to realise that dyslexia is not so much a deficiency as a difference and that just because she struggles with reading and writing, she has skills just as impressive and important as the other children in her year group at school. The story is simply told and easy to understand and I feel it would speak clearly to any young child with dyslexia. It's probably most helpful for children under eight - older children might find the story a little too simplistic - but it's a great starting point for discussions about how we all have different strengths and how we all have our special talents to share.

great book
my daughter loved this story and it was an easy read for her. it was nice that it was not all flowers & fairies about dyslexia. So if your trying to help your child understand about having an amazing brain this is a nice book....

a delightful book for children
This book is a lovely way of explaining dyslexia to children. Although my daughter hansnt had a diagnosis, she has obvious problems. She instantly sympathised with Tom and stated that she was the same as him! A very good book and I would recommend it to any parent who are concerned about their child's reading and writing skills.
