Q: Are they really 18K gold plated?

It states it but I do not believe it is. Maybe they mean the color is gold plated.

Q: What is the size of this?

It is approximately 1/2". I bought this for my sister who has tiny ear lobes and it was visible. The lifters were visible under the ear lobes. I turned them upside down to make it a bit stylish and it did look a bit better. I have not tried it myself yet.
