It's a chalk line
It fills with chalk, has a string, and snaps a line. That's what I needed it to do and that's what it did. Good price.

It works, it’s a chalk line the chalk goes in and doesn’t leak the line goes in and out with chalk on it. Dropped 3 times first day between 1 and 8ft didn’t break.

Jams; string breaks, line won’t hold much chalk.
Not the greatest chalk line. The gear mechanism jams frequently, the string broke several times, and on long sections 16’ the line wouldn’t hold any chalk despite holding it in the right orientation so chalk would collect around the string as it unwound.

The thread got tangled up inside the first time it was used.
Very disappointed with that IRWIN chalk line. The first time I used the product, the thread got tangled up when I turned the handle to take the thread in. I opened it to try to disburse it, but after an hour I gave up. I wasted my time and money, as well as not being able to use the product in my work.

Dont waste your money...
Im so disapointed bought this thought all was well bought in january its now august may have used it 5 or 6 times (if that and the line snapped today what an utter waste of money.
