Very effective. Consistent results. But takes A LOT of strength. Ergonomics go by the wayside.
Firstly... Regardless of what reviews say, the end point is that these crimpers DO THE JOB. The crimps - WITH EFFORT - are solid and dutifully perform the task.HOWEVER... There are some things to be aware of. (Based on my own experiences with the tool. I am making a ground bus for my house and my network/server equipment.)(NOTE: See included photos for visual emphasis.)1.) The first crimp was neat...but questionable. I was crimping 6AWG stranded copper wire into a Panduit LCD6-10A-L compression lug. It is possible that I did not crimp it down hard enough. There was about 1/8" of slippage of the stranded copper in the connector afterward. But it did catch it and a hard pull would not extract the copper wire from the lug.My fix for this was to switch from the 6AWG die to the 8AWG die and compress the lug further. This may have been more compression than was desirable as it seemed to strain the copper walls of the lug entry point. But it certainly prevented the copper from slipping afterward. I did an 8AWG compression only on the entry of the barrel but left the other 2/3 of the barrel crimped at 6AWG.So I simply made sure to compress subsequent 6AWG connections until I couldn't compress the handle any further. This seemed to be sufficient for the remaining crimps that I did. Which leads me to my second point...2.) ...For a PROPER, SECURE crimp, you REALLY have the compress the die until you just CAN NOT press it any further. This took way more force and exertion than I feel should have been necessary. I have issues with my arms and shoulders due to repetitious strain in the past so this is a point of bother. (My arms have been painful today as a result of yesterday's work.)In my opinion, this issue points directly to the die itself not being PERFECTLY machined for the exact dimensions for the gauge indicated. But they work so they'll do. It's not an everyday job thing for me so I'll be happy enough with this for the cost.3.) They really could have made the "ON/OFF" wheel a bit more precise in it's actuation. You REALLY have to twist the knob quite firmly toward "OFF" to get a full seal on the pressure. But, again, the pressure remains constant enough to crimp. So I'll settle for this.4.) I realize that a lot of people don't know the difference(s) between hand tools and cutters. Many reviewers tried to use these wire cutters for STEEL rope. These are absolutely NOT meant for that. They're made to cut softer metals such as copper and aluminum. (Even then I wouldn't try to cut SOLID copper in most gauges.) I personally feel that these cutters are not really a value add to this kit and I wouldn't have missed them at all as I have plenty of cutters of various grades anyway. But maybe they ought to consider including cutters that WILL cut the steel rope since many are buying these crimpers for that purpose?Oh... Also... I was expecting a blue handle - as shown. Not a green one. ;)Overall... The price is definitely right for these and they're still far cleaner a crimp than using non-hydraulic crimpers.I'm not mad at'em. ;)

Not bad but with an issue
This crimper works flawlessly and puts a beautiful, proper crimp on your lugs. Operation is simple and smooth. The dies slip in and out easily and stay put when installed. This is the only way to go. If I have future issues with it I will amend this review but for now, I couldn't be happier.EDIT: Upadate Aug.1,2023 I dinged it two stars for the following two reasons. When crimping high quality 2/0 wire into copper lugs, the 2/0 die closed completely before a complete crimp. I was able to pull the wire out of the lug. I am 100% certain the wire and lugs were both 2/0. The size was far enough off that I was able to neatly re-insert the wire back into the lug and used the 4/0 instead. It made a perfect crimp. I dinged it another star because the cutting edges hit each other hard...you had to try and manipulate the handles to get it to not bang into each other. Of course the badly dented the cutting edges. All of this being said, I am satisfied with the job the crimpers do. The only other crimps I have made were #10 and it performed well with the proper die.

Best bang for the buck on a small job.
This really worked well.Admittedly, due to the low cost, my expectations were low, however, this tool performed perfectly and the installs it was used on are standing well in the test of time.

At this price, there is no reason you shouldn't have one!
I've been using my old manual tool to make battery cables and winch connections for years, but this makes it such a pleasure! Plenty of dies ensure you can make perfect crimps!

Works well but needs a few improvments
I used this crimper for a inverter install using 2/0 cable. The crimper works great, and easily crimped the large cable. You can pretty much do it with one hand, but the last 2-3 pumps may take two hands, or pushing against a table or floor. The tool feels sturdy and the hydraulic pump action seems well built. Also, the kit came with heavy duty wire cutters. I was not sure if they would be any good, but they actually did a great job cutting the 2/0 cable I was using. Two items that need correction are- the "On/Off" valve is labeled backwards. "On" opens the jaws and "Off" closes. Not a big deal, but not professional. Also, the die sizes are not correct. I was crimping 2/0 and the 2/0 die was no where near a tight crimp. The 1/0 worked fine for 2/0 wire. I haven't used any other sizes at this point, but I would expect to need to do a test crimp for the correct size.

Great tool with one minor design flaw
The red cutters are amazing. I didn't believe they would actually cut the stainless cable, but they do with ease. The design flaw is that the crimper handle closes too close to the body of the device. If you use two hands to compress the handle, your fingers will crunch into each other (ouch).Otherwise, it is great, and amazing for the price.

Good value
I was pleasantly surprised with the good quality of this crimping tool. It is easy to use and worked well during my first use.

Not ideal for precision crimping, but great value.
I used this with the 1/8 inch die it came with to crimp cable into railing hardware. The hardware was a tube-screw that the cable slid into. The crimper dies don't sit perfectly so you have to be careful that they are perfectly aligned as they come together. If slightly off, the difference causes the tube to bend on a slight angle due to the misaligned pressure. The tube, you want straight, as the hold cable for a cable deck railing. That said, easy to use, great value, but feels a bit cheaply put together.

Crimper Works well, cutters dull quickly
The hydraulics work well. You need some leverage because the handle is short. The cutters dulled after cutting maybe 10 times. Though I was cutting 1/8 cable for balcony railings.Overall price is cheap but you get what you pay for.
