The Wave monofin is a youth size recreational monofin that teaches younger swimmers the undulation needed for a proper dolphin kick. Safe to use in a pool, lake or ocean, the Wave builds leg strength and increases water confidence. The Wave has a built in stability ridge for proper flexion and comes with an adjustable heel strap that can be fitted to various sizes, making it a great product for beginner competitive swimmers. The Wave comes with quick-release foot straps for added safety and easy adjusting. Plastic protection inserts are included to maintain a comfortable foot pocket shape during storage.

Use properly. For smaller feet
Had mine for 2 years. Treated it rough and swim hard. Aside from being very scratched up from rough use. It performs beautifully. You do have to perform a proper dolphin kick using your core muscles rather than legs and feet or you will damage both yourself and your fin. There are YouTube tutorials in abundance. Also avoid standing on the fin as mucmuch as possible - especially avoid standing on the tip of the fin as children like to do. This is the best way to BREAK your fin.I am a womens size 8 wide (I have a high instep and medium foot). I have some trouble keeping my toes all the way in and I feel the fin would work much better for me if the foot holds were a bit longer - they dont reach my heal. I wish I had gone with the similar Rapid to accommodate my feet better, for only about $10 more, but this fin has been adequate. I may upgrade soon and pass this one along to my kid as we've begun battling for it every time we hit the pool!

Good fin for the price
I have used this fin twice- I may update my review based on how it holds up in the future.Firstly, I have small feet. I wear a women's size 6, standard width and this fin JUST fits me, bordering on a teeny tiny bit too small. unless you have particularly narrow feet, I would not recommend this fin for anyone over a size 6 women's. If you are a size 6, this will be VERY snug.I have to keep the heel straps a little loose so the fin doesn't jam my feet into the narrow toes, which causes occasionally slipping of the straps which i fix fairly regularly. Not much of an issue, just a minor annoyance to have to stop swimming every now and then to pull up the heel straps. This fin does make you go fast! I was able to cut my lap time in nearly half. Definitely gives a good core/leg work out and flexible in the water, more so than you might gauge from just pulling it out of the packaging. So far I have been really enjoying swimming with this fin and have not encountered any serious issues.

Adjustable back strap fits many sizes!
I ordered this fin and the FINIS Yellow Foil Monofin (Small). Am keeping both, as they both have their uses. Also, when my finless friends come over, they can try one out, too.Best part is the strap is easy to adjust. It fit a man's size 10 foot well, and didn't hurt my feet wearing just socks. I wear a women's size 7.5 with a wide foot, and it was great.I bought some neoprene socks, size was way off, and would have been too bulky to fit with both fins. My own ankle socks worked just fine. No sores on my feet from use.My girlfriend had the same fin, but it split on the back foot part. She shipped it back to the company a month ago to fix, but they should just replace it. She also said my new fin's yellow part was very stiff, but with use it loosens up more and works better. This fin is much bigger than the other one.For first timers trying out a monofin, I tried it about 15 minutes in the pool with my girlfriend, and I was ready to give up. Her boyfriend said to keep at it, and in a few more minutes I figured out better how to use it. So don't give up! It's worth the practice once you get it going!I use it in a swimming pool, and it works better from the deep end going to the shallow end.

The strap needs some work, but it's a good learner fin...
I bought the Wave to help me learn the dolphin kick, and also learn to use monofins. The first time I used the Wave, I got a pretty good feel for the undulation of the kick, and was able to "wean" myself down to using regular fins for the dolphin kick by the next time that I got in the pool. My only complaint is that the Wave doesn't fit my small (women's size 6.5) feet very well. I read that the Wave is a youth size/small women's size fin, so I had hoped that it would stay on my feet. Not so - even with the straps completely tightened, they still slip off in the water, which allows the fin to inch away from my feet. Once or twice, I've actually had one foot come completely out of the fin while swimming because of the issue with the straps. I have tried adjusting the straps numerous times, with no improvement regardless of how loose or tight the straps fit. I guess the quick releases just work a little too quickly!

Amazing workout
I bought this for my daughter and I ended up using it too. Great workout. We both wear around a size 7 shoe. There wasn’t any trouble with it fitting. Comfy for a short period of time. She puts on short socks when she wears it for awhile.

Brittle plastic JUNK!!
I've edited this review twice and I cannot stress enough that this product is an enormously disappointing waste of money. Ordered this for my 10-year-old daughter to use for the pool and snorkeling in Hawaii this summer. The item appeared undamaged on arrival, but upon its first use in the pool it cracked across the bottom of the fin at the front of the toe box (probably the highest stress/flex point, but c'mon--a 69lb, 10-year-old girl shouldn't be able to break the thing.) Thought it might have been a one-off QC issue so I returned it for a replacement. Second one did the exact same thing on first use in a pool. She used it a total if four times--twice in a pool and twice snorkeling. It completely broke in half while paddling around the hotel pool on its fourth use. This item is unusable junk! DO NOT BUY!!

Overall, a good product. A-
I am on the very top edge of the recommended sizing for this product. That said, I can not imagine it fitting anyone with feet much smaller. I am a womens 8 and I find the straps slipping off even my feet! I'll continue to adjust and hopefully find the right setting so that these do not slip off my heels every 25 yards. I do not use this fin leisurely to play pretend as a mermaid and what not. I use this fun for competitive swimming purposes and it truly does propel you great. It's the perfect size, fits in my mesh gear bag yet large enough to help propel. I use this for butterfly sets during training to help me focus on my arm work.

My daughter really loves these, the only issue is she can only use them when the pool is very quiet and there is an understanding duty manager on shift.
