Because of the $10 price tag, I didn't put much thought into this product when I purchased it. I used it to sharpen a Chinese Cleaver that went for 2 years without any sharpening. All I did was follow the instruction: run 3 or 4 times through the "coarse" slot by pulling the knife towards you, and twice through the "fine" slot. The result was just surprising and definitely works!

I love this sharpener because it sharpens a variety of knives. Very easy to use.
