Very sturdy and does not bleed or show through with the heaviest of ink application. Withstands a light to medium wash. I do a lot of pen and ink and I use both sides without any issues. I have been a fan and have used all the S&B sketchbooks and love them all. They withstand the test of time in every way. I would prefer the paper to be ivory but this light tan color is nice too.

I use this book for gouache painting and sketching. It's a great size and the toned paper is lovely to work on. I am a big fan of this book. I don't have any complaints.

Using this for Neurographica done in various inks. Wonderful journal. Holds up well to abuse- I even set it down on wet ground to spray it with fixative. It does not appear tough but it is holding up perfectly.

My first impressions are really great! I’m really impressed with the paper quality and color. It can be over worked with watercolor but for light washes it has been really nice. I’m really new to watercolor so it has been good to not struggle with paper while I’m already struggling with paint. I used black marker and there was no visible bleed through! It only got 4 stars because the binding threads aren’t secure in all places.

This toned paper sketchbook is really nice. Stillman and Birn quality product as expected. It's fun to expand my artistic horizon and experiment with toned paper! Paper takes watercolor well. Haven't really used it for heavy washes. Medium washes buckle a bit but I love the "lived in" look of a sketchbook. I chose the soft cover for less weight in my sketching bag. Will definitely order another one when this one is filled.

Excellent quality as usual. Wish it worked better with watercolor. But great for graphite, charcoal, gouache and anything else besides alcohol markers, but they usually bleed anyway.

Strong binding, smooth paper. I will be buying more of these. I will also try their other products

I keep my everyday sketchbook in a leather cover, so just one of these wasn't going to fit. I ended up buying two and gluing them together and that was what I needed!Takes water and paint like a champion, as it does pen and ink. Alcohol markers tend to bleed through after you layer them more than twice, but this is a known thing with alcohol markers just in general so it's not a problem for me! Loving my frankenbook!!
