Life Extension N-Acetyl Cysteine 600 Milligrams, 60 Vegetarian Capsules (3 Pack)

My dermatologist actually recommended starting this supplement for my excoriation (obsessive skin-picking) disorder. I was absolutely desperate for any sort of help because it’s gotten much harder to control as I’ve grown into my 20s. I take SSRIs which are supposed to help OCD but unfortunately they aren’t enough. When I brought it up during a skin check, she told me about this (definitely had to write it down for me), and said that they’ve found that it has helped for a lot of people who also suffer. Somehow it helps to control the urges! She told me to take 600mg 2x a day for 3 months. Luckily I found this perfect amount and bought it immediately. I’m almost done with the first month and I can already tell that the urges are far less and my skin is finally starting to heal and looks healthier. Unfortunately I have keratosis pilaris (chicken skin) so the bumps are what I fixate on. I finally don’t feel like I’m out of control, and now that I don’t pick as much, the bumps seem to be lessening as well. I can’t believe I’ve finally found relief. It’s a very distressing disorder and I have so many tiny scars that will hopefully fade with time. Even though I still succumb to the urges at times, I’m giving it 5 stars because it’s the only thing that has truly finally helped. I also have 2 months to go so maybe I’ll post a follow-up at the end of it. Wanted to leave this review for those that may have heard about it and are curious!

My wife has been fighting macular degeneration for many years and has so far, with regular exams and proper treatment, been successful in keeping the disease at bay. One of the supplements recommended by her Ophthalmologist is N-Acetyl Cysteine made by Life Extension.Along with Areds2 and the various eye drops, her treatment continues to keep the macular degeneration in abeyance. We hope that it continues that way for a long time. Otherwise we may end up the classic dependent old couple of the blind leading the deaf.

It hacks me off that the lower reviews for this product have been removed. So much for fairness in commerce. This product DID work well for me. I'm a nail biter and I have seriously improved in this area, BUT after several days using this, I developed stomach upset like you wouldn't believe. I've read this can potentially cause kidney stones if you don't drink enough water, but I thought I drank enough if not water, water-containing beverages. But, I read a review that described the effect of this product on their stomach as acidic. I am NOT a chemistry major, but that is exactly how I'd describe the upset. I had heartburn, bloating, and stomach pain. Within a day of ceasing this product, it stopped. I think two things about this product in my case: I could do well with a lower dose and pill form. Capsule just dumps everything into your body so quickly. I had the same experience with ibuprofen capsules vs. ibuprofen pills. The capsules tore my stomach to shreds. Too much, too fast. I do well with MANY capsules, but not this. This is my experience and my opinion. Yours might differ. No one had better delete my review!!

I am asthmatic with beginning stages of COPD; and have Guttate Psoriasis I was getting sick all of the time..it was one sinus infection after another followed by numerous respiratory infections! I was constantly on Prednisone and antibiotics last year...I did some research and found that NAc is used in COPD patients to help thin and clear the mucus ; also found that it helps detoxify the liver, which mine could use as I am on high doeses of pain meds and NSAID's for chronic pain...so I tried it..That was a year ago I will never be without this product! I swear I have not been sick since beginning this!

The product is fine but I am so unhappy with Amazon. 1st time I've ever written a negative review other than when something didn't fit. Ordered may 27th and supposed to be one day delivery and its June 5th evening. I only ordered from Amazon because my doctor wanted me to start taking this a while before my surgery because of COVID. Not happy with Amazon or Life Extenaions at all. I don't think I should have to pay for them.

I have been taking this product for several years and I like this brand - I recently read that taking two of these capsules (brand indifferent) actually helps a hangover symptoms if one over indulges the night before - but that is not the reason I originally started to take it - but I’ll take the extra benefits. I take one a day...

It was recommended by a physical fitness man that I trust very much

I've been taking but can't say I feel any different. Only concern is this rancid smell that emits everytime I open bottle. Unsure if this is normal or if it's just a bad batch.
