The Laundress New York - Whites Detergent, Whitens & Brightens, Fights Stains & Yellowing, 64 washes, Classic, 33.3 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)

I'm of two minds on this:(1) Yes, it does the job—it whitens my whites and really does a good job of getting out pit stains in particular, which many detergents I've tried fail miserably at. It also works well with hand washing (but see caveat below), which I've been doing a lot of lately. And it really is super concentrated, so one bottle will last me a long time—after several months of hand washing loads I'm barely down to the top of the label.(2) I'll probably never buy it again, though, because of the scent. Granted, I've been using natural cleaning products for long enough that I have to hold my breath walking down the detergent aisle in the grocery store, but I'm not averse to scents in general. This doesn't have an overwhelmingly synthetic smell, but it's an old-fashioned scent that—unexpectedly, based on the description of "lily of the valley and jasmine with citrus"—smells to me like a classic cologne, decidedly masculine-leaning and dated to perhaps the 1930s or '40s, like something my great-grandfather might have worn. It's also long-lingering on fabrics washed in it—no doubt a plus for those who like it, not so much for those who don't. The weirdest thing about the scent, though, is the way it changes with soaking. When washing by hand I often soak things for several hours or even overnight, but I don't recommend that with this formula, as the smell turns very strange. It's hard to identify precisely, but distinctly reminiscent of milk that's just on the verge of turning sour. I'll probably go back to an even older-fashioned method for laundering whites and use my favorite detergent combined with bluing once I've used this up.

A friend bought me The Laundress soaps (one for regular laundry, another for whites) and I am hooked. It's replaced all other laundry soap. It lasts a long time and my clothes smell amazing! Fantastic product.

Some Days my Clothes Look & Smell Fab! Some, they Smell good, but clothing doesn’t look so Clean. I have a New Washer Machine, Maybe the Laundress is taking a Coffee-Break?

I have noticed at least somethings are definitely whiter.Others, not do much.So, not a miracle solution but, it does seem to work/help.I think I’ll continue to use it to maintain my white.It seems to help or at least not harm and the fabric has a nice feel to it.

Small amount is all that's needed.

This is the best detergent I've ever used. It cleans the clothes really well and leaves them smelling like heaven. The smell is very natural, not chemically like typical grocery store detergents. It's very economical, too. My first bottle lasted me 6 months. Love it!

I am really happy that I purchased this. Whites are coming out looking brighter, cleaner! I will re-order when the bottle gets low.

The product washes well but it has a very strong musky scent. I washed silk pajamas and it’s not a scent you would want to sleep with. The description says citrus, sandalwood Lily of the valley & jasmine and honestly I do not smell citrus at all, and absolutely no floral tones. Returning because I can’t stand the smell.

よい香りで、洗い上がりもきれいだと思います。

色々な洗剤使用してますが、白いもの専用で最高です。特に、ブリーチオルタナティーブと日本のオール色ハイタを同時に使用すると、真っ白に上がる。

ワイシャツ等ではあまり気になりませんでしたが、タオルや肌着に使ったところ、すごく微妙な匂いがついたのでいつもの洗剤で洗い直しましたが取れず、三度洗い直しました。白くなるという感じもなかったのでリピートはしません。

洗浄力はありません。これを使い始めて、タオルの臭い戻りが気になるようになりました。もう買いません。
