To be honest, I was hoping to purchase a 15 inch Sylvania model. But when the DVD Player sold out, I found this one at a fraction of the price. To be honest, I am really happy with my decision. Despite the lower cost, it is still a really good player at 14 inches. I would buy this for a family member for holidays or birthdays or whatever and definitely recommend it to a friend.I only have two cons but they are easily overlooked. When opening the player, the hinge is a bit tight. So you wont be able to rip it open as fast as you want. Just be careful and patient.My other con is that the disc player is so powerful you can hear a subtle whistle. But again, easily forgivable since the volume overpowers it, or if you use headphones.Pretty good. Going to give it 5 stars because of the price and overall quality.

Very good Portable DVD player, good picture quality, reasonable sound (most people will wear head phones so it's not a problem).It prompts and plays varies types of dvds, music and books cds, and mp3 cds. It's light weight and the swivel screen makes it perfect for optimal viewing. I bought this during an Amazon lighting deal so for the price I'm very pleased. It arrived in 2 days and I had aquestion that was answered within 48 hours by the company. Cons : the zoom works but when engaged the screen doesn't clear of text and images for unobstructed viewing. In other words you'll always have bars if it's wide screen. But having googled aroundI find this is a common problem with affordable portable dvd players nothing unusual for Synagy. It doesn't play blu-ray but again nothingunusual for affordable portable dvd players and this is clearly stated by synagy, Shouldn't be a problem for slightly older users who probably have more non blu-rays dvds than blu-rays and younger viewers who's videos don't need to be blu-ray. I paid $69 it's now part of my long distance travel must haves.

Update: review changed back to 5 stars because the seller contacted me directly and replaced the dvd player free of charge. So far it is working fine. Will update if same issue happens again.Purchased in May 2017. Worked great initially. Now 3 months later, you start a movie and a few moments later it says that the DVD is "open" and then reboots itself. Not exactly convenient when your toddler is trying to watch a movie as you're driving and can't reach it to press play. Of course the return window closed in June and can't figure out who to contact regarding any type of warranty. Can't find the company when I Google "Synagy". Not very happy

I was ready not to like this DVD player after reading several negative reviews but so far, I can find nothing disappointing about this device. The picture quality is great, it accepted our headphones and even without them the sound is clear and loud enough to listen to on the road. I like that it swivels but if you strap it to the back of the seat, you really cannot make use of the swivel action because it bumps into the head rest if you try to swivel it.Update: a month later:We were a little hesitant to purchase any DVD player that a 2 1/2 year old was going to be handling so we found this Synagy for a low price and thought if she didn't destroy it, we'd buy a better one later. This DVD player has held up perfectly to our little grand-daughter pushing the buttons, swiveling the screen playing with the remote and basically just giving this thing all her toddler love. We are totally happy with the quality of the picture and the sound. The remote that comes with it is great because I can use it from the front seat. We mounted this on the back of a head-rest in a toyota tacoma and because of this, we lose the screen's swivel ability while it's in the head-rest holder. In order to swivel it needs room to move side to side and once mounted on the head-rest it has no room to swivel. We paired the player with a cute pair of headphone and now we can allow our grand-daughter to bring the DVD into places with us and it occupies her while we do banking and other activities that bore a child. It's especially nice that she can turn it off herself and knows it will start again right where it left off. Also because of the battery, if we turn off the truck, the player just keeps going until shut off. If you travel much with a toddler, you will wonder how you ever survived without this.

I bought the DVD player for my 3-year old granddaughter to use in the car and when she comes to work with me. The previous two DVD players I bought from another co. only lasted a year each, maybe that's all they are meant for. This player works great, is easy to figure out (unlike other brands) and no failures yet. We even hooked it up to the upstairs very easily. We've only had this a few months, so I will update my review next year. So far, we love the player. And it's purple, which is a plus for the little girl!

This DVD player is excellent. The screen is bigger than I expected and very clear. The color is beautiful. Easy to operate. The remote is nice and easy to use as well. I definitely recommend purchasing this. You will not be disappointed.

I purchased this for my mother-in-law so that she could see and hear Mahalia Jackson, her favorite singer, She turned 85 this year and really appreciated the gift. I had my daughter give her one on one training but my daughter feels she will need more instruction. It's a big jump in technology for her but I think she'll be motivated because she gets such a thrill in seeing and hearing the late great Mahalia.

Great picture, good sound without any earphones.
