HIVIZ Sight Systems SW11LW01, Litewave Front Sight, Smith & Wesson 1911 Interchangeable,Green, Red, White

I had a Novak fiber optic sight on my S&W 1911. It came from S&W with the sight and the problem was the 1911 is dirty enough that the sight was covered with a layer of crap after shooting 100 rounds or so. The Novak was short enough that once the soot covered it, it was useless. I needed a longer fiber optic type or sight to continue collecting light and working after the front section was dirty. This sight fits the bill. It continues to work when the front the gets dirty. It is nice and bright. I had to file it some to fit properly but that is not unexpected. An excellent sight for the money.

I use allot of these LiteWave sights on various pistols. I always find them to be durable, bright and easy to install. Being able to change the fiber optic color is nice too. That said, the S&W1911 E series 1911 has a milled flat in the top of the slide . This creates a gap between the sight and slide that causes this sight to overhang that area. It looks funny and presents a snagging hazard. In fairness, only an extremely short sight will work for this application so I had to go with a company that specializes in competition sights. Great sight, it just doesn't work on the E series (and they should tell you that before buying.)

Great sights. I’m a firm believer in Hiviz sights.

After tediously filing the very thick base to fit my pistol, the sight blade was 1.5 mm above the top of the slide.Into the trash.

Works very well easy to install with the proper tools.
