It doesn't protrude past the furthest point of the seat in front of you (meaning it doesn't hang in the row where people would need to walk). Before manufacturing our foot rest, we made sure to check with the FAA and most major airlines. We even tested them on a number of flights, showed them off to the flight crew and passed out samples to other travelers. Either way, the foot hammock is very discreet and won't cause any issues with the passengers in front of you, next to you, nor the airline crew.
