Sturdy, easy to carry/ pull
Very good protection for pair of skis and poles. Easy to transport-wheels on bottom helpful, and detachable handle. Took it on plane on the way out west, able to navigate a ski backpack, rolling carry on and the ski box myself. shipped back home through UPS. Very sturdy. I have a 2 ski box as well. There is a pin that keeps the 2 pieces together and will stay in place but someone can easily unhook and remove it. This happened with shipping the 2 ski box and I bought a replacement pin at hardwear store but it did not fit. So for the new 1 ski box I just got, I wanted to make sure that the pin did not get lost so I was able to attach a TSA lock through the pin. Would not want to use only the little TSA lock since it might not be strong enough to hold the 2 halves together. Note that once you get the skis and poles in the box, the 2 halves do not come apart easily due to ski brakes, so pin coming out may not cause the whole thing to fall apart. When I picked up the 2 ski box from shipping place, pin was missing but it did not appear to have come apart

Great Case
Excellent ski bag. For starters it’s hardside and if you fly a lot you know how airlines will destroy and dent your luggage. The case doesn’t come with instructions. I had to watch a video for the best way to put the skis in this case.I had difficulty getting the straps and brake retainers that come with the item detached from the bag they were contained in on the inside bottom of the case.Currently I’m still using the sportube “locking pin” that came with the case. I did have to bend it more before the first use to ensure the pin caught the latching loop and would stay closed during travel. It comes with a TSA sticker showing them how to open it which I stuck right on front.I am considering a different locking mechanism however. TSA will inspect it every time. So keep that in mind

Perfect for airline travel
So, I finally got tired of paying equipment rental fees on every skiing trip I went having a pair of my own skis gathering dust in storage. You'll save approximately $100 a week in fees by bringing your own stuff. They only other choice is whether you want a soft case or a hard case (this product). IMHO, the only reason to go for soft case is to save on weight, because that's the only thing airlines will limit (and charge for excess) in ski equipment.Sportube has several key advantages. Unlike what some people wrote, I was able to fit my ski pants, hat, and goggles in the case, besides skis & poles. The case is telescoping, so you can leave as much free space as you like at either end for you stuff. ;) Also, I was able to fit a couple of wine bottles between the skis themselves. This case has wheels and detachable pulling handle for easy transporting around. It can also be mounted on top of your car provided that you have cross bars and straps to secure it.There are several things you have to be aware of when you buy this case. First, as it was mentioned before, it will not fit through the trunk access hole in sedans. You need split folding seats. Also, purchase one of these locks for travel: Master Lock 4688DRED TSA Accepted Cable Luggage Lock, Red . So far I made two trips with the case and both times TSA opened a case on the way there AND back and left me a note inside. It's a TSA magnet for sure.

Survived Air Travel
Very glad I decided to buy this case. Took it on a trip to Aspen recently and my skis were well taken care of because of the case. Was a bit difficult at first because my poles have hand guards on them for racing, but they fit no issue after a bit of shuffling. I’m glad that it came with a sticker instructing the TSA how to lock and unlock the case since I have seen them just left open from an inspection. I put the hard case inside my soft case to avoid the issue of the TSA leaving my hard case open, at least my stuff would all be together if it did happen, but they were able to properly lock it up both ways. My skis fit great, no movement when I was shaking the case. Was very happy to use the wheels on the case, it made life a lot easier when going through the airport. Highly recommend.

Maximum Protection for Air Travel
GREAT travel case that can take the abuse inflicted by baggage handlers. I followed the directions and then wrapped my skis with a towel and two nylon straps. Slides into the case perfectly and the towel prevents them from sliding around and getting scratched. The included handle makes it easy to roll through the airport to check in. Then, just unclip it and stow in your carry-on for easy access when you reach your destination.

Great for a single pair of skis and poles
I originally thought my skis would not fit in this container, but once I zip-tied the brakes so they are flat, I was able to get both skis and both poles in. I have wider, modern style all-mountain skis, 95mm under foot, with Marker Griffon bindings. I haven't traveled with this particular case yet, but I've had a Series 3 for about eight years and travel out west with it every year and it has always performed well, I expect the Series 1 to do the same.

Great Case Overall
Sturdy! Compact! Lightweight! Extendable!I do not ski or snowboard, but I was in need for a case to carry my camera & light tripod. I was worried when my tripod was taller then the shipping box. WOW! Opened the Amazon box, looked over this case, extended the case, more than enough length. Shoved my tripod into the single tube, slide the two halves together. Tripod was secure, added a little foam to stop the shifting from side to side. I’m super duper pleased with this case. Easy to carry with the handles or pull it on its wheels, no shoulder strap. My equipment is secure and ready to travel.

Sturdy and dependable
I use it to travel with my 156 Volkl Aura Skis. 100 waist and 132 at the widest point. Fits perfectly with a pair of ski poles. I've put it through airport travel and I'm glad I invested in a hard case. There are areas that are gouged and scratched, but the case is holding up very well and I'm glad there is a solid barrier between TSA and my skis. I like to put a small, thin towel over the tip and tail as some cushioning but it's not necessary and I've gone just fine without.

great bit of gear
On the face of it this is a big plastic box to put skis in but the design is excellent and well proven. the tube adjusts to fit the size of ski ( or other gear) with some padding inside either end of the tubes. It comes with a pull strap which can be removed and a non-locking pin closure which clips both ends of he tube together. I would recommend buying a lock ( the sport tube TSA cable lock is ideal) to lock the tube if travelling by air or the box is out of sight. The tube is fastened through holes in both tubes to ensure a solid closure. I found that my Skis and poles fitted in snugly and having spent nearly £600 on new skis and poles, I feel confident they will arrive in good condition. One tip - as the skis are put together with bindings facing each other - I found that putting an old towel or similar between the ski bindings helped stop them scratching each other. The tube also comes with two very strong rubber straps to hold the ski brakes flat so you can slide the skis into the tube. I would also suggest using a couple of webbing straps to hold the skis together to make it easier to put hem into the tube.the wheels on the end of the tube are fairly substantial so should last and travel well.Final tip - as all the tubes look the same - I would suggest putting something distinctive on the outside so you can recognise your Sport Tube - I use some ski and resort stickers to make my tube distinctive.A quick Update from March 2014 - having used them in anger as it were this season I can say that they do the job superbly well - Skis an poles were safe and unmarked, I managed to squeeze some additional clothing in between the skis ( about an additional 4 Kg worth ) which also helped with my overall luggage allowance as well. :) The Sporttube Lock was also well worth purchasing for my peace of mind as at Innsbruck airport the skis are delivered outside of he terminal before you clear customs... I will buy another for my Wife but will probably wait for the Black Friday offers again as it Only cost £69 when I bought it this year.

Quite Excellent
These tubes appear to be brilliant, quite light and manageable and serious protection. However, I am baffled by the two holes in the outer sleeve for securing the 2 telescopic tubes together, they are NOT 30mm apart, which is the distance between all the holes on the inner ridge for length adjustment; this is inexplicable, as it is an advantage to use the clip and a lock in conjunction. I have the double sportube too, and the same problem applies. I can only imagine this is an error, as I can see no purpose for this descrepancy. I have now drilled another hole for this purpose, which is fine, but be cafeful, the 'hard polythene' case is very tough and you can easily slip.Secondly it's a shame that these Sportubes don't come with a shoulder strap, the cases take one but the double case needs a longer length than standard straps (typically 103cms at full length) I would suggest 150cms. However, the carrying handle is good and also the drag handle (supplied).

I am very pleased with this product
I am very pleased with this product. It is just what I wanted. The only problem was with the delivery. I had to be on hand for three days, as although there was someone in, the Hermes delivery driver stated he had tried to deliver on each of two days. We know he didn't attempt to deliver, as we would have seen or heard him. Finally, after telling Hermes of my dissatisfaction with their delivery process, on the third day it was left in the porch, which was ok, but they didn't even ring the bell. An excellent product let down by the delivery method at this time...the only reason they didn't get 5 stars.

Best way of transporting skis ever.
LOVE this - really love it. Best way of transporting skis ever. Robust, adapts to the length of the ski, light and easy to handle even with the skis inside. Comes with nice solid clip-on handle that you can quickly remove at check in. Love my skis and was not one bit worried about them inside this case. Noticed envious looks from skiers with larger cumbersome bags as we traveled through the airport. Did not buy the lock that is sold with the case because it did not get good reviews. Instead bought a long hasp combination padlock from the local hardware store and this works perfectly. If you travel with skis buy this - it will make your life easier. Would definitely buy again.

Great purchase!
Really good quality and protect skis well when travelling.A bit tricky to get the skis in there and you need some straps to hold the skis. (I bought a pack of 8 velcro straps.) But once they are in you know they are safe.It wheels along nicely behind. It only stores one set of skis and poles - and if you have super fat skis I'm not sure they would fit (I have volkl secret 92s and they just get in!). Also my bindings are on the bulky side and again that made it a tight squeeze. Some people have mentioned that the holes don't line up to put the pin or lock through - personally I think that is deliberate as it gives you more precise options for the length.Worth the investment given what it's protecting!
