KEENMen’s Newport H2 Closed Toe Water Sandals

My normal size 29.5cm (46.5EU or 12US).I followed KEEN recommendations (This item runs small. Consider taking a larger size than you typically wear.) so I purchased next size available: 14US or 30.2cm but it feels like 2 sizes bigger and too wide for me.

This sandal is markedly inferior in build and materials to previous Keen H2 versions I have bought. In particular, the footbed appears to be just single material, black thermoplastic, and makes my foot's sole sweat and consequently slide around. My previous H2s (a brown version) had a footbed that was more sophisticated, including a (synthetic) suede top, which was much more pleasant to wear, especially in warmer weather. The supplied product information is insufficient to determine if one's colour choice affects the build of the sandal or to ascertain other features that might have been downgraded over time.

This is my second pair, and they are an excellent design. You can use them for any activity you might normally use trainers for - walking, climbing rocks on the beach, cycling etc, with the benefit of being a summer sandal. I've been using them for everyday work/play shoes through this summer.However. The second pair is very slightly different dimensionally to the first pair on the right forward strap which catches my small toe and can be excruciating. Not a problem if wearing socks. For this reason I've taken off one star.Also - why do they say waterproof?? 🤔

Lovely wide fitting shoes, lasts a fair while, but could last longer if manufacturing weak points are noted. Only problem is is it needs stitching to the sole. Inner sole comes away from the bottom sole. Think it must be glued. The slingback part of the strap below the ankle wears away and comes away pretty quickly from the lower sole, so needs to be made stronger. This is the weak part of the shoes and the first parts to go on the shoe. Disappointing because the rest of the shoe is in good nick. We are in a throw away society so to get them mended in the UK ie., stitching etc, difficult whereas in India it can be repaired. So where it is glued it should be stitched! The price of these shoes in Europe are double that of America, so they should be stitched. They are not a cheap shoe.

This is my fourth pair of Keen sandals. Each new iteration has improved upon the previous. These are wonderful. Walked six miles in them straight from the box. Snug fit that holds the foot perfectly. They have hit upon the, apparently, radical idea that comfortable footwear should be foot-shaped. These are. Bought navy blue / grey. Love ‘em.

I was after some footwear that could be worn in the sea as well as walking across fields and forests with the Dogs after looking at different reviews for water shoes on YouTube i went for these and im glad i did ! After a 3 mile walk i found them very comfortable and the soles are as grippy on wet services as my brasher boots,love the idea that your toes are protected well.If i get a year out of them i will be happy.
