Ninety-Nine Cent Tour of Bar Harbor Maine (Photo Tour): Traveling Cheapskate

I live in New England and Bar Harbor Maine is a place we visit every now and then. I wanted to see if this book would give me some new ideas of places to see, things to do, and places to eat. It did not.This book was not what I expected in many ways. This book has no text. It is just a book of photos with captions. The captions are written in an unusually small font that does not scale at all. Even on a large 30" computer monitor, the text was not readable. Zoom-in controls in the browser did not work to enlarge the fonts, so no matter what I tried I could not see what the author wrote. I was only able to look at the photos. The photos were not particularly good. They were not artistic, they did not have good composition, the colors were washed out. The photos did not give Bar Harbor justice. The book did not make Bar Harbor look like a desirable place to visit.Ali Julia review

Our jet was delayed this past Summer causing us to miss our embarkation out of Boston aboard the Holland Veendam. We had to fly into Bar Harbor the next day and taxi directly to our tender barely touching the ground thus missing our excursion to Acadia National Forest while experiencing virtually nothing of the town. While book took a bit acclimating to my wanting to zoom on the pictures (which wasn't practical), I did enjoy the pop up text feature and finally felt like I got to walk the streets at least in some respect and see something of Bar Harbor thru another person's eyes. It was a good book for me and still hoping to return one day and visit what for us would be the prime attraction.

I have been to Bar Harbor several times and remember some of these things. My favorite memory is when my friend's grandfather brought his lobster traps in. He built a fire on the shore and we had FRESH lobster! If you have never been there, I highly recommend this book.

Loosen your grip on your wallet and enjoy the local fare. This little photo story is priced right to make a great gift to your Maine friends and to those who have ever said, "Someday I'm going to get to Maine." I was in Cushing in 2004. Maybe I'll get back in 2015 and head 100 miles farther north and east to Bar Harbor and Acadia N.P. Thanks, Ken!

This book is a bit small font but good to know where people can visit the lobster houses and attractive shops around the Bar Harbor Maine! So I know exactly when I can enjoy my next trip and lobster meal.

Length: 56 pages.This is not a book to read. Further, although captioned, there is no text to read. More important, for me, these photographs cannot be enlarged.Still, the pics do give one a feel for Bar Harbor, so I will rate this as okay - three stars.

If you have never been to Bar Harbor Maine, this is a must read. There is so much to do and this guide will make you want to go.

Great little picture diary of how to spend a day or two in Bar Harbour- plenty of shots of what to see and do, and how to save a few bucks in the process.If you want a glimpse of this delightful little town and what it is all about then this book is well worth the effort.

Maine is a beautiful state, and Bay Harbor the perfect picturesque town. This small guide gives you some good tips for getting the most out of your visit without spending too much money.
