It works!
This is exactly the kind of wedge I was looking for: its not so soft that you get no real wedge out of it, and its not too hard that its painful. Maybe I wished I had ordered the 4" instead of the 3.5" to get a little more wedge but besides that its about all I could ask for in a device to help me sit at an angle. I am using it in an office chair and it is definitely helping.
