Brilliant book
A compelling read. What an incredible life Anson had. Navigating round the world, getting marooned, capturing a Spanish treasure ship and going on to lead the British navy to take both Havana and Manila. At the same time. With an admiralty staff of just 40 people! Why isn't this guy more famous? Really enjoyed the writing style as well. Highly recommended.

What a great book!
A remarkable book recounting the exploits of a remarkable British naval commander in an age of remarkable British naval commanders, not unlike the plot of many a fictional naval character.A great and engaging read lots of detail, and the author has not restricted himself solely to the fame gained from his circumnavigation of the world but also his entire career. Definitely one for naval enthusiasts.

All around the world
This rounds out the story of a man generally known only for a voyage around the world although the voyage is covered in detail as a voyage of war not discovery.
