I use green lasers at public stargazing and astronomy programs to show people the location of planets, stars, and constellations, and objects we'll be looking at in telescopes. I use it for no other purpose.As with other green lasers, your mileage may vary. The mW ratings on most green lasers are wildly inaccurate. Also, a 5mW laser can outperform lasers with higher ratings if it is well collimated. This one is rated at <5mW, but the brightness of the beam compares favorably with my much-more-expensive 50mW laser. At this price, you can't go wrong. A real bargain if you use it for astronomical purposes.I may have lucked out and gotten a well collimated one, but for $14.00 it was worth the risk. I can't yet speak to its durability, but again, at this price, if it eventually fails, I'll just buy another one.Update: My second order produced a laser of slightly less, but acceptable brightness.

No more extra charger and bits and pieces that can get lost, just recharge with USB cable and you are good to go. It is much lighter, too!

This laser is so bright that it confuses our dogs! They try to bite the light beam instead of chasing the laser dot.

Very bright and will even appear on a monitor screen or shoot across the street during the day. BUT.... if you need it for a presentation expect it to only last 2 or 3 hours. Had a 102 slides deck and by the 80th slide it went out. I really do like it but just wish it would last longer.
