Cold or hot, great product!
I'm now back in my classroom and had to have a new travel mug that was truly 16oz! I'm a cold tea drinker in the summer and hot in the winter, and wanted one mug that could do both. The locking lid is amazing, truly leak proof, and I don't have to touch the drinking area to open, close or lock. I love the removable power supply, which reduces the form factor on my desk with a very professional look and feel. I tested the power supply last night for hot and gave up after 4 hours, still at my temperature with over half of the battery charge remaining. This is an amazing product ..... will be getting several more this Christmas for mom and sisters.

My favorite mug, until the batteries started acting up
Update: I have continued to try and get customer support from Thermojoe, but they simply do not respond to support tickets. My most recent attempt is still sitting unanswered for 2 weeks now. So don't waste your money on this product. I suspect it's just a scam to unload a bunch of defective products.I purchased two ThermoJoe's back in 10/2022 (the tall and short versions), and they worked great until a few weeks ago (5/2023), when the batteries started acting up. One shows fully charged, but the power button inlay on the battery no longer lets me activate the power when I attach the battery to the mug, and the other one no longer charges. It only pulses one blue light slowly.Failing within 7 months of purchase is pretty unacceptable, so I tried to file a support ticket on the ThermoJoe website. It has gone unanswered since early May. I've tried to create an account, hoping that might have been the problem, but I also can't create an account. It accepted my account credentials when I registered, but when I I try to log in after registration, it tells me my password is wrong (I use a password manager, so I know it's not wrong). And when I ask to ThermoJoe to send me a password recovery email, it never arrives in my inbox. So caveat emptor Amazon buyers, or the ThermoJoke may be on you.

Thermo Joe works
It works extremely well and keeps coffee hot for 4-5 hours. The only thing is after about a month and a half it wouldn’t turn on. I left it off for a day and plugged it in the next day. It worked without a hitch. Was wondering if you can purchase just the battery for this product.

Great concept with some needed improvements
UPDATE:We ultimately sent back my husband's mug because of the battery falling off issue. I contacted ThermoJoe directly about mine and they sent me a new mug (free of charge) and the new mug fit much more tightly and solved both of the battery issues I noted below. The new mug worked like a charm for 3 months then started having the same problems I noted earlier - power supply not fitting tightly and the battery randomly turning off eventhough the mug is full of hot liquid. I will increase my rating from 2 to 3 stars for their excellent customer service, but now that I've had 2 mugs fail on me in 6 months, I would say that the mug still needs some work. It's a shame because when it's working, this mug is amazing. Maybe the next iteration will be better.ORIGINAL REVIEW:I bought 2 of these - one for myself and one for my husband. I really, really wanted this mug to work out because I love the idea and when it's working, it's wonderful. Here are the pros/cons:Pros:- Fits great in all cup holders- Interchangeable battery units allows you to keep your beverage hot indefinitely- Each battery lasts at least 5 hours- Cup itself is insulated enough that it keeps the beverage hot without the battery source for about an hour- Easy to clean- Completely leak proof with lid on (locked or unlocked)- Uses a standard USB-C cable to charge so you don't need to carry a special charging deviceCons:- Battery does not secure well to the bottom of the travel mug and will unscrew and fall off with regular use- Touch sensitive button are completely flush and you need to press and hold the power button for it to light up, making it impossible to use in the dark, especially since the buttons are black on a dark blue mug- Battery turns off on its own and if you don't notice it before your beverage falls below a certain temperature, there is no way to get the power to stay on and heat up your beverage- Button colors are hard to understand and instructions that came with the mug do not give all the color/flashing combos that appear on your mug- Temperature markings on the battery can't be seen once you put the battery on the mug- Mouthpiece on the lid is raised in a way that it's impossible to sip on the hot liquid without burning your upper lip- Battery can't be charged at the same time that it's keeping your beverage warmWe also had the Ember travel mug and below are some comparison points:- The lid design on the Ember is much better for drinking, but the spring started to fail after a couple of weeks of using the mug daily- The feel of the Ember is nicer because it's not so bottom heavy or long (due to the battery on the ThermoJoe), but it only holds 12oz instead of 16oz- The Ember touch sensitive buttons are much easier to see and activate in the dark- The Ember heats coffee up from cold, but the battery only lasts about an hour and the mug is not insulated- The Ember uses proprietary charging technology so you have to buy their accessoriesWe ultimately returned the Ember mugs for the following reasons:- The touch controls kept activating on their own and causing the temperature to be in constant flux- 12oz is not enough- Not insulated and battery life was terrible so coffee would get cold quickly unless it was plugged in making it useless as a daily travel mug

Great the 2nd time around
I’ve had a very love-hate relationship with these cups. The first one I got was SO annoying. Like many of the other reviews, it would very frequently shut off randomly on its own. It would also refuse to heat if the drink was even slightly lukewarm. When it finally quit for good, I swore I wouldn’t buy another one. However, I couldn’t find another brand that offered a mug as large. I also appreciate that this one is ceramic inside and does not attract smells. So… I bought it again.I have to say: the 2nd one is AMAZING! it works exactly like it should!!! It stays on, heats up great, and lasts half a day+ on a single battery. I’ve had it for a few months now and it’s still perfect!I’m shocked to be saying it, but I’m so glad I gave ThermoJoe another try.One thing I have learned: KEEP THE BOTTOM AWAY FROM LIQUIDS! I think that might be the issue. Once the sensors get wet, it’s never the same.
