This is the one you're looking for
I have been buying and getting disappointed with pen based computers, tablets, phones, etc. for many, many years. I started on an (old at the time) Compaq pen based Windows XP computer that just never quite could run the pretty-good-if-not-great Pen based version of XP at a satisfactory speed.A few years back I even tried a much earlier Boox device, the Book Note Pro. It was, pretty okay. The Boox Air C? It is nearly, nearly perfect. It is THE pen based device you have been looking for. I love this thing. Full access to Android Play Store without any fiddling around, super customizable screen settings, amazingly fluid and blazing fast writing experience. That writing experience: so good. So, so, so good. It is as fluid as any pen and really feels like ink in a lot of ways. The full Notes app is amazing and highly upgraded. Only a few minor issues like single page PDF files replacing the entire background set without an option to turn that off and only apply to the current page. Fortunately that isn't the case for images imported on a lower layer below your writing or image files used as a page template (background) which is probably more compact anyway if you optimize your PNG/JPG files carefully with something like TinyPNG.The built-in written note calendar is super cute and basically perfect for little notes each day. Love it.You can even "type" into fields in any Android app by tapping a writing icon above the normal keyboard, which brings up a wide and comfortable Palm Pilot-esc/Graffiti-like interface to replace the keyboard where you can write dozens of words with the device using on-board AI to translate it to text. It has handled 99% of what I've scribbled into it without any trouble at all. Honestly, it's amazing to experience. The cloud features of the Boox platform are really nice, simple web-based drag and drop that can use push to send documents to your device, or a local wifi/browser based interface that works just as well.I was a little worried about the size of the device, but really needn't have been. It's just about the perfect size to replace my A5/Classic sized paper planner obsession that will adapt with me as far as my brain works. For Interactive Fiction fans, THIS is how to finally get a good library of IF and Text Adventure games on a mobile eink.I am sure that anyone who has tried a Boox device isn't going to be nearly as impressed as I have, but my last one was very, very old. I still use and love an original run Kindle Keyboard from 2012. That thing is almost perfect for me, except not having a frontlight. The Boox Air C is pretty much immediately replacing it however, with the possible exception that two devices means more reading+writing time if I only write on Boox and read on Kindle.

Super battery efficient device with tons of features
This device is super battery efficient. What's more it charges really fast. Like fully charged in 15 to 20 mins. This makes it truly like paper. Awesome for writing down notes and reading ebooks. But it's also full android and the smoothest eink. I've grown to love it and take it everywhere with me.

Glitchy
I wish I would have returned this item, but the window has passed. I also thought I just had to play around with the settings more, but it has just gotten glitchier as time has passed. First, I am a big fan of the BOOX brand. The 24 inch computer e-ink monitor has literally saved my career as I was getting awful headaches and fatigue everyday, watching two screen 8 to 10 hours daily. That is in black and white only, and operates very quickly. I think the main problem with the Nova Air Color is the color. It just takes way too long to load, and that is on the quickest settings. I most often use it to read newspapers and journals. I have to use my phone simultaneously to look at photos and diagrams while I am waiting for the print to pull up. Also, it is just glitchy: all of the sudden the page is lost and I am back on my blank browser. Also without changing touch sensitivity, it is at times too sensitive, barely touching the outer edges can send it to some seemingly random place, and at other times I have to poke on it pretty hard to get a response. I still haven't figured out how to easily copy, save, and file depending on what activity I am doing. The manual is in Chinese.

Understand what this device is - and then be wowed.
From the things I read on these and other Boox devices, it seems many people just don't understand them. This thing is an LCD screen Android tablet with color! That means you can read books well. It reads great outside. You can also run all your apps that you need with just one device. It's great for any app that doesn't include lots of motion. The battery lasts for days when in normal use, and if it's powered off I couldn't even tell you how long. I have an older model that I couldn't even tell you the last time I charged it, has to be more than a year. When I powered it up it was at 82%! No other tablet I know of will do that. The iPads I have had were always dead when I needed it. It's very light to carry and the size is just right to be able to hold it and use the keyboard with 2 thumbs which speeds me up (I would switch the soft keyboard out with another one, but once again: You can do that!) You can browse the web just fine. It's great for email and pdfs and it's outstanding to look at architectural drawings while on building sites. You can use it for RDP sessions in a pinch. You can take freehand notes or draw with the pencil. The separately purchased case is great. It's on Android 11, so it's a more updated OS.Of course it has some drawbacks also: I wish it came with the upgraded pencil. Yes there is some ghosting on the screen (Please keep in mind that color LCDs on these devices is almost bleeding edge tech). The backlight could be better for indoor use, of course that effects your battery life. The user interface isn't spectacular, but I find that's the case with any Android device, there just isn't enough design agreement between all the developers. I do find it more difficult than it should be to get back to the Home screen. I wish they had a better way to handle app design choices that just don't work so well on the LCD. If you have any plan to watch video or play games with any action, this is not the device you want because it just can't keep up with the screen refreshes. All that said - This Boox Nova Air C is my DD now, and I have tried many eReader devices If your looking for a productivity device, this is it. I love it.
