It ACTUALLY WORKS on burr oak acorns!
I had my doubts after having tried several others. Others just couldn't pick up the large, irregular shaped acorns and husks...THIS DOES!I have MANY burr oak JUMBO ACORNS from a large tree every fall. I am retired and don't care to bend over many hundreds of times. This is a real BACK SAFER.It is made of QUALITY plastic parts, which concerned me at first , but I was PLEASANTLY SURPRISED. It's well designed, easy to use and captures and hold a large amount of acorns before easily opened and poured out into a box. This picker does MORE than I had hoped. Simply, IT JUST WORKS!I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PICKER!

Great for Picking up Windfall Apples
I have an apple tree in my backyard and I constantly have to deal with apples that have fallen to the ground. I bought a similar tool (different brand) about five years ago and this year the handle finally snapped off so I needed to get a replacement. I was a little worried this one might not pick up something as large as an apple (it lists crab apples in the things it picks up but not regular ones) but I saw some reviewer mention using it for that so I decided to give it a shot.I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised at how much I loved this over the old "apple broom" tool I had. First off, not only does it work for picking up apples, it works *really* good. With my old tool I was constantly struggling with the apples either not getting picked up without rolling over them 20 times or having them fall out of the cage. Not a problem with this. A few apples were still difficult to pick up (just due to the nature of where they were sitting or if they were rotting) but overall not only did this pick up the apples MUCH easier, they all stayed inside the cage no problem.Another thing I need to mention is the grip on the handle. I didn't realize until using this how much of a big deal that would be. It makes holding this SO much easier and more comfortable than my old one. It seems like such a minor thing but it was something I noticed immediately. The ability to empty the cage from the side is also amazing. With my old tool I had to pull the spokes apart to get the apples out (and in the process getting a bunch of rotten apple goo on my hands) and it was a serious pain. Being able to remove the side panel on this is so much better. I will say, this is one area where this tool is probably more intended for smaller things like nuts as the apples would sometimes get stuck due to their size. But with enough shaking and/or helping push the larger apples through, it still worked just fine. I'll take those few small issues over having to pull apart the spokes every time (and again, I don't knock the product for this since they don't claim it's made for stuff this big in the first place).I can't speak for sure on whether this one will last longer than my previous tool but it definitely *feels* more sturdy. The handle feels a bit thicker and stronger than the last one (it's definitely a bit wider in diameter). I at least get the impression that it's going to hold up fine.Overall, love this thing. Actually makes me glad my previous tool broke. This is going to be so much less tedious to use than that one. I highly recommend it.

Good on Black Walnuts
This picker works quite well on black walnuts — better than on pecans so far, but it will get those as well. Durability and longevity are an unknown. One of the wires bent the first time I used it, but that honestly did not affect the ability to gather walnuts, and those are mature walnuts in the green hulls — about the size of tennis balls. The end cap has reverse directions for opening, but the Chinaman making it obviously did not speak English. No matter. It is easy to figure out. I’m happy.

It kinda sorta works
I'll just dive right in and say the trees in my city are dumb. IDK who chose them but they drip sap all year, and drop acorns (round nuts kinda things) in massive amounts in the fall.A nice thick, plastic rake does a decent job keeping up with them but seriously it's still a full time job.i thought this would help..just roll over the things and pick them up. i was pretty sure that the sheer volume of nuts would require lots of emptying of the roller-container part. i prepared and was ok with it bc i figured it was still less horrible than raking for hours.Anyway, this is a nice piece of equipment. Assembles in seconds--insert handle, tighten bolts, adjust length of handle...easy stuff. It's well-made and the grip is nice. The whole concept is pretty great. Here comes the bad part....This is more for like one or two straggler nuts on a sidewalk or yard. To do an entire yard (like 10'x15' small) would take hours. It picks up pretty nicely...especially these round acorn-things. But any of the acorn 'caps' it struggles with and leaves them either on the outside where they drop into the yard, or just picked up and dropped again. That's kind of the problem with the thing overall. It picks up but then drops nuts as you roll it. It really does pick up and is easy to push. But you're only getting part of what's on the ground.i'm going to try to play with it to see if there's a technique to picking up nuts. It seems to do better grabbing ones that are spaced out in the yard, not in a clump. If you try to roll over a cluster of nuts, it picks up some, drops some and just becomes a cycle of annoyance. I really do hope working on my technique will improve how it works. Also it's terrible on stairs. Those little nuts love to hide right against the inside of the step where it's hard to get to them--and this is bulky so it can't get in close to get them. You can just move the nuts and roll over them i guess but i never thought about corners and tight spaces when i bought this.Works great though for clearing off strays from sidewalks. Again though, if you have a decent sized cluster, it won't get them.I am only giving it 3 stars for now bc it kind of doesn't do what i need. i mean, who has like small amounts of acorns in their yard right? it's always a bazillion, never just a couple. So i gotta take points off for being kind of not good at clearing large amounts of nuts--at least not until/if i learn a better technique to use it.Overall, it's a really nice tool. it was much better quality than i expected. i'm only partly disappointed with the results.i'm going to keep at it and if it's performance improves, i'll add more stars. Not at all sad that i bought it--even if it doesn't do all the things, it does a good job with small amounts of material. Hoping to see improvement though, but for a first time try, not too bad at all.

WOW! Works Incredible
We have 6 walnut trees and they litter our lawn every fall. This is usually a back-breaking job, however with this, NOT ANYMORE! The walnuts fit in the large one that we ordered. Our neighbours were asking to borrow it and likely many of them also purchased it. It was easy to use.. the only time-consuming part was emptying the basket, even then it wasn't that bad. Seriously it is the best yard product we have
