Great Little Camera
I bought one of these to add to the four W4 units I already have installed around my rural property. Adding this unit was very easy via the Andoid Wansview Cloud App that I had already installed and configured for the existing cameras. All the cameras can be shared via the app to other Wansview equipped phones so that members of the family can also view what is happening on their own phones. It was also easy to add the new camera to my existing Wansview Cloud subscription thereby allowing recorded motion events to be made available for a rolling 15 days.Picture quality is excellent both day and night with the built in infra-red floodlighting making night vision particularly impressive for such a reasonably priced camera. The unit supports both wi-fi and Ethernet connectivity, athough in my case I used the wi-fi connection to an external wi-fi hot spot mounted some 25 metres away. The camera will accept an SD memory card although given my existing Cloud subscription I haven't made use of this. The field of vision is slightly wider than my existing W4 units which again is beneficial in my case.I was hoping to make use of the inbuilt speaker and microphone to allow conversation with callers at our remote gateway. This has proved inpractical as the speaker volume and microphone sensitivity are inadequate in such an open environment. I have no doubt though that this feature would work well if the camera were mounted next to a front or back door, or in a covered porchway.Overall this seems to be a very good little camera, it seems robustly built with no obvious shortcomings in the application I have for it. Only time will tell if these Wansview cameras are reliable especially given the exposed positions I am using them in.

Good Value, Reliable and works without fuss
I have owned this Wansview W6 camera for a little over 1 year now, it was bought to replace another brand of camera that got water inside and stopped working. The build quality is good, being metal construction and feels sturdy, the attachment bracket is strong and I have not had to adjust it all year.WIFI connection is great, I had planned to use it over ethernet as my old camera could not maintain a good signal over WIFI in this location, this camera actually works fine over WIFI and maintains a good signal (I think you can see in the attached pic)Setup using the Wansview app was very easy and I keep it on my phone for checking remotely. I mostly chose and use this camera for its range of functionality and the fact it works with Synology Surveillance Station. Something that a lot of cameras do not these days, especially at this sort of price point.Picture quality is really good and it has a nice wide viewing angle, Night vision is also much much better than my old camera.I don't use the cloud features or the SD card recording features so cannot comment on those but if you are looking for something to use with a Synology NAS I can highly recommend it.

Looks durable and a practical outdoor camera
I bought this camera to monitor our backyard where video doorbell may not be able to view the entire area. Also, small and light enough so the camera can be mounted on a higher height.Upon opening the package, I’m a bit impressed on the number of parts the small box contains which would be helpful to mount the camera outside and to start using it. The items are organized inside the box and ensured that the camera itself has sufficient cushion. The aluminum metal camera body and its monopod mount look ruggedized for the outdoor weather. After connecting all the parts together with the WiFi antenna, the camera is still weighing light for easy attachment to wall.In terms of Image Quality, there is no doubt that the picture is very sharp and clear on a bright sunny day. In low light, it is good that it has the infrared light to still pick up recognizable image. I admit that the clarity of the image would really depend on how far the camera will be on the subject (such as a person’s face or a wild critter). So, I might probably buy a supporting flood light or lamp with motion-detection if I would become too suspicious in the future.I still have not tried how reliable the WiFi antenna in terms of distance from the router and on a worse wintery or thundery weather. I might probably update my review once this camera has experienced such types of weather.Just some things to watch out on this camera which still needs to be validated in the coming months,1) I know this camera is rated with IP66 so it should be able to have “Full protection against dust and other particulates” and “Protection against powerful jets (12.5 mm nozzle) of directed water from any direction”. Even though, I would still be hesitant to point a water jet cleaner on this camera especially on the bottom speaker and on the cable junctions.2) The ball head wall mount seems to be sufficient to hold the camera with its cables. It would be interesting to see how this mount would hold if the camera got a bit for snow fall, or if the heavy rains are pouring on to it, or if there are heavy winds blowing into the camera.3) The motion detection seems to be working very well on well lighted or sunny weather. I’d still need to see how the camera’s algorithm would be able to detect something moving in complete darkness, for example, some cats walking nearby the porch. One thing I noticed is that removing the bottom speaker to access the microSD card slot is quite tricky because the cover does not have any notch on it and probably the rubber seal has a good grip on it. Perhaps, there is a good reason for it to make sure that the internal parts are really weather sealed. For the affordable price when I bought this camera, so far, I’m happy on how it is performing for me. It just a matter of time to tell about its reliability which I’m hoping to be more positive.

A great addition to my home security set up
I already have a Wansview indoor camera (Q5) so I already had the app and was familiar with the functionality and set up.This camera was almost as easy to set up (with some added complexity due to needing to find a route for getting the necessary power) although not sure if it was an omission in my pack but I didn’t have any set up manual other than a guide on how to connect to the app.Found set up fairly self evident anyway and concluded that I needed to attach it to the back on my router using the (supplied) network cable to start the link to my app.I had the option of searching for the camera on the WAN, or scanning a QR code from the app using the camera, or scanning a QR code on the camera itself using the app.I scanned the QR from the app using the camera just as I’d done when setting up the indoor camera, and went just as smoothly. With the camera connected to the app I then detached the cable and the camera stayed connected now using the wireless connection. I then relocated the camera to suit my needs. At present the camera is set up where it can view the gate into my garden as the (long and thin) power cable can come through an upstairs roof window (which easily shut and locked without damaging the cable as it’s so thin) and to a plug socket inside but it’s not the best view and I’ll move it shortly to a better vantage point when I can face getting my drill out and routing the cable through the wall. The power for the camera is a normal plug at one end and a fairly small diameter connected at the other which (once you’ve got it through a wall) connects via a robust waterproof socket to a short lead at the back of the camera. I’m not anticipating any issues moving to a move permanent power solution than the cable through a window however.Overall I’m really pleased with the quality of the image - and of the nighttime image - and the app is easy to use and full of functionality. I have a motion alert activated in the dead of the night and have spotted animals coming and going and even a swarm of insects buzzing by so am confident it’d pick up anyone nosing about if that happened. Which, thankfully, hasn’t as yet.The motion alert is great too as I can narrow the area I’m interested in to chop out the neighbours garden if I want to, which is handy, and I can imagine would be useful if you want to eliminate false alarms but chopping out pavements or roads otherwise captured in the field of view.Very pleased. Might get one for the front next to keep my empire protected!
