Smittybilt 5662201 G.E.A.R. Black Tailgate Cover for Jeep Wrangler

This was the best thing for organizing our Jeep. We weren't sure about drilling holes in the tailgate, but we started out slowly and worked at one end to the other end, pulling taught after each installed screw. We used a punch to start the holes instead of a small drill bit like the instructions said (that didn't work for us). Everything else went exactly as described in the instructions. This organized a lot of our stuff from our old Jeep into our newer one. (Jeep storage is a premium.) We purchased tags that we put on the zipper pulls so that we know what is in each of the bags without having to open it first. I would recommend this to anyone that owns a Jeep.

Although it is a typical Smittybilt "made in China" item this is one of the better products they market. I also have the overhead MOLLE storage add on from Smittybilt and it is not as easy to install and doesn't fit nearly as well. The only downside is that to install you will need to drill into your tailgate. The supplied screws are the screw/drill type with a drill bit on the end. You will need a cordless drill with a number 2 phillips bit in order to turn the screws. There is plenty of room for bungie's, tire pressure gauge, emergence tire plug kit, a small set of jumper cables, and even a handful of tools. There is also room to mount other smaller MOLLE attachments.

Great product, durable, quality material. Easy install. I used rivets instead of screws. Just predrill the holes to whatever size your rivet is (the more precise the better the hold) then snap the rivets in with your rivet gun. Also i stretched mine the most i physically could to mark for my holes to try to get a tighter and more precise fit and to cut down how floppy the finishing product was with cargo included.

Fits great and is very handy. I picked up an additional red bag for specific first aid items.

I had created a "poor man" version of this cover to be used on my Jeep Wrangler TJ using Velcro loops and screws. This is MUCH better, as expected. I really love that it includes two MOLLE pouches which tend to run $20 to $35 each at the local Army/Navy Store. Great value and good layout. Those that complain about the instructions and hardware are being a bit nit picky. If you use common sense and take some time to plan out the installation it goes on without a hitch.

I bought this for my tj and it fits well. I planed on using the big bag for tools but the molle straps sewn on the back wont hold very much weight and sags. I was very impressed at how thick and heavy duty the nylon is. Overall pretty cool product just buy some nice molle straps.

I have a 2013 Jeep Wrangler and it worked pretty well on it. It is a little wider that the swing door and the left bottom flap was positioned over the vent so that was an issue. I would suggest two people when installing it to make sure you get it really stretched out before screwing the back piece in.

I have purchased two of these now. I own a 2012 4 door jeep wrangler. Neither of the styles I have purchased have fit my tailgate properly. This one specifically would look stupid on my vehicle. With all the cut outs it has leaves very little room for storing more than the two bags it comes with. The full size rectangular one needs to be modified in order for it to fit right. It said they both were compatible with my vehicle. Nope!

Did not fit my jeep wrangler unlimited 2014. Had to return
