They have so far with stood our horrible wind

I installed this on my full glass storm door wanting a little more than a standard crash/wind chain. It's a good quality crash chain, and came with all the needed components including a spring... but it was not any more heavy duty than the ones you'd buy at Home Depot, Ace, or True Value. This crash chain will probably save my full glass door from a light breeze, but it will be no match for strong winds. I should have purchased a stronger/bigger chain, but then you have to put. up with the ugliness and chain hang down factor. This was a good compromise.

Before I purchased it, we had a storm come through our town and my wife was coming home from shopping. Well to make a long story short the wind caught our storm door which damaged the frame work of the door. After repairing the damage, I installed the Zinc Storm Door Safety Chain. Less than a week after installing it, we had another storm that had even stronger winds. I was letting my dog in and the wind caught the door and jerked it out of the my hand and the chain caught the door and it sustain no damage to the door nor the frame work. Wish I would have installed one when we had the door installed, by the way this was a new door, it would have saved me a couple of hundred dollars repairing the frame work. I highly recommend it to anyone who has a storm door.

We live atop a hill, and my storm door opens such that the normal wind gusts we get will take the door and slam it wide open, bending the door closers, keeping the door stuck open until I buy new closers and swap out the bent/broken ones.Now, for under $5, my problem is solved...and I just witnessed it working. My son was holding the door open when a gust ripped it out of his hand. Only this time, the door slammed only until the chain was taut, with no damage to the closers.Admittedly, install instructions are nonexistent in this package, but a little YouTubing got me there.

This was purchased to be a doorstop for instance when the wind grabs the door.I appreciate most a little clip that holds the chain up out of the way of a person passing through the door.

Ultra Hardware 15001 Chain Storm Door Crash chain.Part came right on time and I installed right away. The reason for 4 stars is that installation diagram should be clearer with written explanation on installation.

Does what it is supposed to do.

I installed this in June 2022 and is was broken by October. Very cheap, thin metal does not last long!
