Ask the Monk: Answers to Life's Most Intriguing Questions

Helpful to anyone who is seeking self realisation
Spirituality and religion are integral parts of any culture and since these subjects are unfortunately not part of our academic curriculum , we have to seek answers to the questions we face ,from random sources such as family, friends and now social media. These answers may or may not be accurate , we are not sure!Scriptures are the best source to provide us with the correct answers but we do not have time to study our scriptures in depth. We are blessed to read this book as it gives answers to so many commonly asked questions and the best part is that these answers are taken directly from Bhagwad Gita , Srimad Bhagvatam and the Vedas so there is absolute clarity , leaving no room for further doubts and confusion.Out of the many question answers , one which I remember and I can personally relate to is " Does vedic literature allow meat eating ".In this context I have a friend who says that they offer meat to Goddess Durga during certain days so her logic is if meat eating is bad why would there be such a ritual. To this Prabhuji Nityanand Charan Das in his present book explains that when sacrifices are offered to Goddess Kali she does not eat it as she is a vaishnavi and wife of Lord Shiva, the most compassionate personality. But because some worshippers desire meat, sacrifices were started to regulate their desires.Another point that Prabhuji has touched is about some scriptures which say that God is Nirakar which means God does not have a form. It actually means that God does not have a mundane form like we have, but He does have a spiritual form. So there are some scriptures which touch upon a preliminary understanding with the goal of guiding one towards the ultimate understanding. Such scriptures help people to come to a basic level of understanding which helps to bring a change in their perspective of God and helps them to develop reverence towards God.This book makes an interesting reading as there are many questions answered with simplicity and meaningful analogies. The book is a treasure!! worth reading again and again and worth sharing with all whom we care for!
