Sammy Spider's First Shabbat Paperback – Picture Book, August 1, 1997

This book series doesn't talk about the history of the holiday but instead focuses the story on the traditions that Sammy the spider observes from his web. For those who complain about the lack of history...toddlers that would enjoy this book are doing just that...observing the traditions in the home. The colors are bright and get attention and the story is simple for the little ones. I liked it.

One of Several in a Series - the religious school kids love this (as do the teacher and her husband). The who series is worthwhile Get them well before the intended holiday, so you have the right one at the right time. Nice illustrations.

Sammy Spider is all about learning by observation of his human family. He also likes seeing how they celebrate holidays and learning to celebrate too. Again not heavy on history.

My kids love the series, but this one is frequently requested. Our kids love to learn about the holidays and observances through these books.

The little ones will really like this book. It's sweet and colorful and nicely written. A great way to bring in the holiday.

A well written book appropriate for a very young child - thoroughly enjoyed by adult and toddler. Loved the illustrations.

I bought this book to explain Shabbat to my class of Infant school children. It makes Shabbat so easy to understand from the perspective of Sammy Spider who lives in the family kitchen. Highly recommended as a teaching resource or introducing children to a new festival.
