Outstanding Story!!!!!!
I absolutely fell in love with this story. It has action, drama, suspense, and humor. Imogen was fantastic. I loved her snarky humor that comes out at times. Her comments with Barbara and Rafael had me absolutely laughing so hard. All the drama they are experiencing with the mystery and suspense is off the charts. Imogen has to figure out so much in such a short time only to have other things keep popping up. This is a gripping story that pulls you in and doesn’t let go. It is a story with tons of action that absolutely keeps it on a faster pace causing you not to want to put it down. I loved the descriptions and how it allows me to easily picture what is occurring throughout the story. It is extremely well written and developed. This story is absolutely a must read.

Hysterical opening, great relationship-building
I really enjoyed this book. The opening scene is hysterical and I want MORE of that.Imogen is a complicated character, struggling. Her failures and mistakes are totally understandable. I'm a sucker for the smart kid trope and her sidekick hit all the buttons for me.I was disappointed that the father plot arc kinda disappeared, but not too much since I am definitely going to read more.I read some reviews before I got the book and am tickled that the 1 star reviews are what convinced me to read the book.

Immortally awesome!!
I have found a new favorite author! Lauretta Hignett is delightfully funny. Her characters are well developed. I love her main characters, in this series and the ones based in this story line. I read this on Kindle but I'm going to buy the paperbacks because I enjoy her writing style so much! If you need a new read, definitely try Lauretta Hignett.

Fabulous start to the series!
I love the twist of Imogen Gray's story. This series has some great characters with laugh out loud moments - the first time Imogen meets Rafael - classic! I hope we get more stories and catch up with everyone from Emerald Valley

great fun
How Lauretta Hignett can think up and write such funny horrifying tales is amazing. She has perfected the art of not giving too much information up front while keeping you amused at the antics of the characters. Keep writing!

Amazing story, a new type of Immortal and a cracker of one too ! Loving Imogen and how after so long she’s accumulating people again even by accident lol.. Can’t wait to see where this goes 🤞🏻🙏. I think it’s an adult story though very graphic in parts 🤢

A little repetitive, but enjoyable
I wasn’t sure initially about this book, but I decided to stick with it, skip the repetitive bits, and ended up enjoying it from about halfway in. The premise around the Blood Lord could have been really interesting but needed way more background, and a more in-depth explanation. Also info on her background needed more fleshing out. Her character development was odd; she started out thinking and behaving one way after 200,000+ years of living and suddenly turned into a snarky, funny and more upbeat character in a heartbeat. Not the best development. At least the last half of the book was fun, moved along well and we got to know more about characters that I can see myself warming to over an entire series. I'm hoping Book 2 builds on it and gets better.

What an opening sequence!
What an opening sequence! The narrative dives into tension with the threat of an evil blood witch disguised as a psychotherapist, and yet at the same time, not only is our hero, Imogen, sussing up this villain, but she’s managing to recount her dating history too! A hilarious and thrilling start. What typifies this book is its humour and pace, combined with a cast of lovable found family and host of baddies that just have to be righteously avenged. Curiously, Hignett draws from both humans and fantasy creatures for her antagonists, yet the story highlights that the most human of crimes can be the worst.Imogen herself, having lived for over 200,000 years, must find a solution to her immortality. She has existed for way too long and yearns for a mortal life. Believing her reincarnated father may be able to help, she sets out to find him.Imogen is violent and mouthy, and some of the situations she deals with are very dark. However this works well in the context of the story. Although part of a series, this novel has a satisfying finale with no cliffhangers.

I love Imogen so much.
Imogen is the perfect example of reluctant hero. Spending their existence running and trying NOT to be anything other than blending in.It only ever takes one thing to start that niggle in the back of the head. That slight feeling that , this time, this time it may be different. I mean, she's still the same. Still not dying, and always regenerating - but something has changed. I'm excited to see what happens next.
