Prince August Solder Melting PotThe melting pot comes as a fairly complete kit, in the box you will find the melting pot, a metal ladle, a pot of flux and some instructions. The Prince melting pot looks well-made and very sturdy, the controls are simple just an on/off switch and a temperature control. It can plug into a standard 240 volt socket and it comes ready equipped with a three pin 13A plug.I bought some of the Prince August '6-Star' tin bismuth alloy ingots to go with my melting pot. I wanted a metal that would look shiny and I didn’t want anything with a lead content, the tin bismuth alloy melts at around 300℃. There are some metal alloys with low enough melting points that can even be cast in silicone rubber moulds. As I write this review I haven’t yet made any useful castings I have only melted some metal and poured it into simple indentations in some casting sand but they all worked well. For what I need I’m going to order some finer grained sand like Petrobond for finer detail on the small castings I will make.
