Total coffee nerd: Best coffee buy on amazon so far, by far.
***my five star rating is relative to other packaged and shipped coffees, NOT locally roasted coffee bought fresh from an expert roaster*** -- it's important to calibrate expectations.tl;dr - I know my coffee. This is the best coffee I have tried so far from Amazon. It has the flavor profile expected from a Chiapas coffee -- very balanced, subtle, with no astringency (bitterness). I agree with the roaster on "pear" notes, maybe a touch of piloncillo. Medium is the way to go with balanced mexican coffees IMO, unless you absolutely only drink dark roasts. This medium is a viena roast or full city, not a first crack or blonde. Just right for my taste.I've tried 6-7 different whole bean coffees on Amazon, and this is, by far the best. It does not compete with a good locally roasted coffee due to, well, nothing competes with coffee that is expert roasted within 24 hours of consumption. I have an experienced pallette for coffee, have done many cuppings, and have tried the best coffee worldwide. I don't drink alcohol, and I dislike chocolate, so I really get into coffee and am one of those folks that can identify "notes" and "finish" (I'll try to spare you here). In fact, I bought this after returning from Mexico City and having tasted Chiapas coffee only hours after roasting. This coffee has the same basic profile.I brewed this in a French Press, a pour-over, and a hirio siphon pot. The siphon pot with the cloth or paper filter was best for this. The press and the pour over were very good too. Didn't try espresso yet. My bag was very recently roasted, judging just by the aroma and oily beans alone. I recommend this coffee to people looking for something very drinkable on Amazon Prime.

Buyer beware ...it's NOT FRESH
I was looking for "fresh" coffee beans. Found Fresh Roasted Coffee LLC online, which states, "We want our customers to experience fresh coffee at its peak drink ability, just A FEW DAYS AFTER BEING ROASTED to perfection." Between that, and the company/brand name, I decided to buy. I opted to purchase the beans on Amazon due to Prime/free shipping. The beans I received were three weeks old based on the bags Julian expiration date. I contacted both Amazon and Fresh Roasted Coffee LLC to inquire on how this could be, and found out "then" that this is "NORMAL" when selling through Amazon, because selling through Amazon adds all kinds of delay to the (warehouse) process. When inquiring with Fresh Roasted Coffee LLC on how misleading this is, they pointed to Amazon processing as the issue ...even though Fresh Roasted Coffee LLC is selling the beans with full awareness that their Fresh Roasted Beans are NOT fresh through Amazon, nor received at "peak drink ability, just A FEW DAYS AFTER BEING ROASTED to perfection." I asked if they were comfortable with my experience, and they advised (in writing) that I bought through Amazon, and therefore cannot help. Very odd to me; I have stale three-week old beans ..by (their) design. Amazon is not the problem here; Amazon is great. If you want "actual" fresh coffee beans from Fresh Roasted Coffee LLC, they are advising (only to those who inquire) you have to buy direct from them and pay their shipping. Hope this helps.

Best Costa Rican coffee north of the border!
This is the freshest roasted coffee I have ever purchased. I am a big fan of Costa Rican coffee and typically purchase the 10oz bags of Cafe Britt, although I have been increasingly dis-satisfied with it over the last year or so, especially at the cost.I decided to try the Fresh Roasted Coffee brand and was initially skeptical because of its much lower cost, I am happy I took the chance.I immediately noticed the difference on opening the bag, the look of the Fresh Roasted Coffee beans was so much more appealing. Here are my comparisons:Appearance of the beans:FRC - Bright dark brown, gleaming and looking almost wet. (Note, they are not wet at all, just look "fresh")CB - Dull washed out brown, dried out looking.Smell of the coffee beans:FRC - Full on coffee smell, rich and strong smellingCB - Some unusual smell, not to be confused with coffee, coffee undertones (that would be a bad thing)Grind:FRC - Grinds up well, can see from the grinder after use that the coffee oils are alive and weel in these beansCB - Goes in dry, comes out dry.Smell during brew:FRC - Smells like a coffee houseCB - Not so muchTaste:FRC - Rich, full bodied, very satisfyingCB - Keep trying to add more grind to the pot to make it taste better, but never quite make it.This is the second 2lb. bag of FRC over the last 2 months and both ave been consistent, I have found my new supplier of Costa Rican coffee.

Was good now bad
I have purchased this coffee several times before and have always been satisfied. This time, however, the coffee smells and tastes old with very little flavor. I have always enjoyed this brand of coffee but somehow something has changed. The packaging is new from my previous order. Never again will I buy this coffee! Unable to return so I guess I’m stuck with it.

We were looking for really good coffee because the one we have been buying keeps getting more expensive and now no more free shipping. Did not think we could find anything we liked as much but when we came across the rave reviews for this Chiapas we decided to give it a try. Boy am I glad we did as we have found a coffee that can compete with our organic Yirgacheffe. This coffee is the perfect roast, smooth with great crema. We are very particular and have tried others but this is the first one we can honestly say we like as much. We can now highly recommend this coffee.
