Wonderful quality julep strainer, probably the best on amazon.Most out there are junk, and there are only a few places to find manufactured pieces that get it right. Can be use right side up or inverted, see-saw like in this nature.However, due to its slightly triangular shape use normal sized cubes like those made from the tovolo perfect cube molds and you'll be golden. I wouldn't suggest this for fine crushed ice as it could potentially spill small flakes around the side unlike those of the If you know when to properly use this item this will never be an issue.Absolutely vital for concoctions stirred in a pint glass side of the boston shaker then strained. I use my hawthorn strainer for shaken cocktails.This is a absolute essential to have around, as many cocktails with clear based ingredients should most always will be stirred. I have not attempted in a bar mixing glass yet, but for a properly sized one I could simply use my hawthorn to fit atop the larger based (and opening) mixing glass.

Any other julep strainer is made of cheap, flimsy, metal, with the handle and strainer welding or stamped together. This one on the other hand is one piece and solid, is is one of my two favorite items in my bar tools collection (the other is an Alessi bar spoon). If you are shopping for a Julep Strainer, look no further and buy this strainer.NB, to echo the other reviewers, this won't work well with crushed ice due to its shape, but I've alway used ice cubes when making Manhattans and Martinis anyway, so this is no big deal for me.

This juliep strainer is very well made. It is gorgeous, heavy and puts my old juliep strainer to shame. It also works well as an ice scoop.
