Do Not Buy This Product - May Damage Equipment
1 star only because I don't know how to give negative stars (would that be a black hole?)I purchased these cables based on the product description, which turned out to be a lie.I specifically purchased these magnetic USB-C Charging Cables from Hyranger because they were the only magnetic USB-C cables I could find that claimed to have the 56K ohm Rp resistor required by the USB Type-C Specification. However this description is a complete lie.First, here’s a little background: According to the USB-C specification the 56K ohm pullup resistor controls the amount of current from the source. Numerous sources online (as well as USB-C Specification Release 1.3) state that no resistor, or an incorrect value, may cause the power source to be overloaded and damaged. In addition to damaging the power supply, allowing too much current to flow through cables that were not designed to handle that amount of current, can lead to fires. The description for this product explicitly states “5.Conforms to the USB C specification version 1.1, standard 56k OHM identification resistor, which ensures a safe charging at 2.0A Maximum.” When I received the cables, I plugged it into my phone (Samsung Note 9), and received a message on the screen that said “Incomplete Connection”. I wiggled the cable around, and tried the other cables that came in this pack, but still got the same message. I also tried the cable on another Note 9, with the same result. Finally, I used a digital multimeter (DMM) to check the resistance between Pin A5 and one of the Vbus pins (according to the USB-C specification, this resistance should read 56 KΩ ±5%). However, the DMM showed no resistance.I returned the cables, then had to file an A-Z claim in order to get my money back.
