Good design with great value
Great conical fermenter for the price. With the optional pressurization kit makes for a very clean oxygen free fermentation process. Compared to other conical's this fits into a very nice price bracket for home brewers. I have brewed for a while in a stainless conical and for obvious reasons they both have their pros and cons.Fermentasaurus pros:* Very light weight (less than 1/3 the weight of my SS 7G conical)* Easy to disassemble, clean and SEE with very clear plastic what needs to be cleaned* Can be pressurized up to carbonation levels (my SS is only rated to 5psi).* Oxygen free transfers and dry hopping (with pressure kit and CO2).* Less than half the cost of stainless (for obvious reasons).Fermentasauras Cons:* Very light weight. Seems flimsy at times. The stand performs well but could definitely use some design reinforcements.* Expensive pressurization kit should maybe be included at a better price.* Screw top opening is just a tad too small for my hands.Tips;* Always use a dab of keg lube for post cleaning assembly for easier later disassembly.* If Trub collection is stuck "gently" whirlpool the fermenter with a circular clockwise then counter clockwise motion. This issue happens with many small conical designs.Overall for the price (and a first manufacturing run) this is well designed, thought out and affordable for the average home brewer.

I love mine, Will buy the Ferm#2 when it comes out
I love my fermentasaurus. Had it since Nov 18, no leaks yes the trub does seem to collect near the valve, I cured that by swirling the wort after fermentation is completed and before secondary. Most of trub goes into catch bottle. Will dump bottle and reinstall the do this again a day before I bottle. Most of the sediment is gone with only a small residual. These are no longer being made so you may be able to get one for a discount when Fermentasaurus 2 comes out. Parts are discounted at morebeer.com I purchased mine from amazon. on my 10th batch of beer with no troubles.

The worst piece of equipment!
This was my 2nd unit. The first has been great. This one, however, was awful.I assembled per instructions, the same way I did with my other one.The valve leaked. The coupling for the valve also leaked.I couldn’t get it unscrewed to try and repair it...It was a really bad experience.I wonder if they changed where they assembled because the difference in the one I got a couple years ago is staggering.

Overall, very pleased
Overall, I really like it:Pros:* Totally transparent, you can see the sediment very clearly, making for easy transfer without sucking yeast up* Cone bottom makes it easy to get maximum amount of supernatant without sucking trub* Butterfly valve cleans easily and does not have cavity (like ball valve) that can contaminate a batch* Convenient volume marker - for the first time I don't have to guess at volumes of liquidCons:* Gasket for top cover - this really should have been an o-ring that stays in place. The existing gasket has to be placed carefully and when you secure the cover, you need be careful to make sure it is aligned properly when screwing on the retaining lid. Also if you're not careful, there is a chance you could drop the gasket down into the fermenter.* Stand is a little wobbly when you have a full batch

Works for me!/2nd order not as great...
Update: contacted seller to explain situation with tanknand they are sending us a replacement tank with no issue! Customer service 5 star! Will update product review when we recieve new tank!.................Dropped a star after second order...just getting around to leave review for second fermenter. Lower part of large tank has collapsed spot (as if heat was applied and it shrunk) as well as a ring around the area where the frame sits on the tank. As soon as I put room temp liquid in it, it suctioned in more, eventually releasing back to it original state of how it arrived. I was still able to run approx 8 gallons in it but it now does not sit right in the stand and I'm concerned about the integrity of the tank itself. I am unsure if this "melting" effect happened during shipping as it was still quite warm here in Georgia when I ordered my second fermenter or if this is a factory defect. Either way it was not the same quality as my first order................................................................................Just ordered my second one.The butterfly valve is inferior to a ball valve. But if you give it a half turn and squeeze the bowl once a day it seems to work fine.I have had no leak issues but I have not pressurized it .

A great fermenter with a few quirks.
I received this item for Christmas and have been very satisfied with it so far. I also purchased the pressure kit and have used it to ferment 2 batches so far. It works as advertised and have had no issues.I will say I would not buy this unless you also purchase the pressure kit as well, I feel like that is where most of the advantages to this fermenter are for me.Pros:- Ability to pressure ferment (optional accessory)- Closed transfer ability to keg, limiting oxidation- Ability to see the fermentation process- Can take gravity readings without opening the vessel- Yeast/Trub collection vesselCons:-Weak stand, kinda wobbly. I'm thinking of making a more sturdy one out of pvc-Somewhat awkward to clean, but this isn't really that big of a deal to me.
