The silicone is too flexible, and flops or sags spilling water even with the lids on. Maybe if they used a thicker/harder silicon this wouldn't be such an issue. My old trays had spill ways for water to go from 1 cube to the next. There is also only 1/16 inch above the cubes, and the tray isn't flat so overfilling cubes leads to water leaking over the edge of the tray instead of spreading out and filling the rest of the cubes. Basically the only to fill all of the cubes without spilling is 1 by 1 with a funnel. I ended up cutting the corners between the cubes out so I can just fill it from the center and let the water spread into each cube like a decent icetray.

Edit- After using these for a bit i am really not happy with them. If I could I would return them. They don't clean easy, when not in use they don't nest together so they take up more space than traditional plastic trays and because the lids are slightly curved at the top, they don't stack nicely. I'm lowering to 2 stars given the fact that it does its intended purpose of making ice.I thought these were perfect at first but the lids don't stay on, very frustrating as i was really happy about that feature. Ice cubes are a nice size and come out easily.

These work pretty well, but one of the main reasons I bought them was that I wanted a tray with a lid so the ice wouldn’t pick up flavors from the freezer. The problem is that the silicon tray is very flexible while the lid is rigid plastic. When full, the ice provides enough structure to hold the lid on, but the more ice you remove, the worse the fit between the two. Once it’s half empty the lid just won’t stay on tightly. Also, the lid seems to be slightly domed, so they don’t stack well, and they’re just a bit wider than a standard tray and so I can’t fit both side-by-side in my freezer’s ice cube tray compartment.Other than that, they’re pretty good ice cube trays at a good price. I’m not wild about the colors, but they live in the freezer where that’s not much of an issue. They make nice square-ish cubes that are good for drinks on the rocks; the lower surface area/volume means they don’t melt too quickly and water down your drink. The non-stick, flexible silicone makes it easy to remove the cubes, where the same shape in a more rigid plastic would be much more difficult. I’d give it five stars if the lid were better.

We bought these ice cube trays to make baby food, but the first thing I tried freezing was pesto. I filled both containers, froze the pesto, removed it in a timely manner, vacuum sealed it, and placed it in the freezer. This was months ago, and I still cannot get the smell of pesto out of these ice cube trays. We've now used them several times for making baby food, and each time I wash it by hand it still smells.Today, I decided to throw it in the dishwasher again. When I opened the dishwasher, what's the first thing I smelled? Pesto.Another thing you should be aware of, the lids on the trays aren't really tight. If you're freezing from a liquid state (opposed to food), there's a decent chance you're going to spill a little. As far as food is concerned, you'll just need to make sure you don't leave it in the freezer any longer than necessary, or ice crystals will begin to form.

Love these trays. Almost makes me not hate having a fridge without an ice maker. Easy to pop the cubes out and the lids make them stackable so I can keep a good amount of ice on hand in a small area. Plus if I ever want to do any square candies or fudge, I can use them for that to. No unitaskers!

I love silicone ice trays. They are SO EASY TO USE! Even with an ice maker silicone ice trays make beautifully shaped ice for cocktails. Just store these perfectly shaped cubes in a ziplock bag until needed. Freeze things other than water such as the wine you are serving- fruit juice cubes to float in sangria.

Love these trays and will probably by two more. I have arthritis and these trays make getting the ice out so much easier. The cubes are a good size and deep enough to add berries to the ice.

As you can see from my photo my freezer is a mess. These ice cube trays are the bomb diggity! You can stack them or just throw them in without their top. Best part is you can practically literally throw them in. They are silicone so they don’t slide around or need a perfectly flat surface. These are really the best when you don’t have an ice maker.
