Better Suited for Older Kids - Instructions are Not the Best, but Project is Still Fun to Complete
The B Bascolor Kids Fox Family Sewing Craft Kit is a fun challenging sewing kit for older kids, teens, and adults. Although it's listed as being a good kit for kids 8 and up, I'd be hard-pressed to give this to an 8-year-old unless they were incredibly patient. The instructions are very sparse, and if you've never sewed before, I definitely recommend going online to watch some tutorial videos on the various stitches and techniques needed to complete one of the little fox plushes. None of the felt pieces are labeled, and prior to starting, it may be helpful to organize and separate the pieces of each fox where possible. I liked how the pieces are precut and easily removable from the felt sheets. All of the pieces are properly cut so they fit together well when sewn together and all the pieces necessary were included in the set. The only thing I really didn't like about this particular sewing set is that there are sections that require "a lighter and the included glue stick" to attach the pieces. Do yourself a solid and either get a glue gun or some really good fabric glue so you don't burn yourself with a lighter and that tiny glue stick that was included. The time it takes to complete each fox depends on your sewing skill and how patient you are to make each fox look perfect. This is not a project you can complete quickly for instant gratification, nor will likely finish in an afternoon. Overall, I still found this kit to be enjoyable to work on, and the resulting fox toys are incredibly cute when finished.

Adorable!
I was having a hard time finding dolls I liked for the house my daughter was getting for Christmas. I saw these and thought they'd be perfect! I'm a hobby sewer and have been sewing for over 3 decades, kudos to any 8 yo that can handle these! The tiny features make it a challenge and the instructions left a lot to be desired. I sort of abandoned the instructions and went with my previous experience sewing patterns (the sleeves and pants were especially weird) etc. They turned out really cute. For the price, I'm really happy overall!

Great craft project!
All 4 foxes took me about a week and a half (2-3 hours a day). I do know how to hand stitch but am no professional by any means. I chose to use a different stitch on some pieces than the ones called for in the instructions. Each of the foxes are a different shade of orange and each are a different size. There is more than enough stuffing. They supply everything needed to construct the foxes. I found that they don’t include quite enough orange and white thread. I didn’t have enough orange to sew sister fox, so I used yellow and I didn’t have enough white to finish the little bunny toy, so I used pink.If I had trouble with having enough thread, I can see a child running out of some of the thread colors. As for the construction, the instructions are fairly easy to follow but could be confusing for a younger child. Some of the pics are hard to understand what you are supposed to do. Some of the items to sew are quite small and hard to stuff. They include a glue stick but I just sewed on all the heads. The way you see on the arms and legs make it so they can move a bit.I changed the direction of the lace on mother foxes skirt, made a backpack for brother fox out of fathers bag, and I didn’t attach the duck to brother fox.The age is 8 and up. I think some 8 year olds could do this project if they already know a bit about sewing. All in all, a great project. I enjoyed creating this fox family and plan on giving as a gift.

Made in China. More of a challenge than some other options, which is a good thing.
This is an adorable little Fox Family. Mother. . . Father. . . Daughter. . . Son. You can attach them to a backpack. . . Display them on your dresser. . . and so on.I will say that this set is a little more “complicated” than some other similar kits I’ve tried. That’s not really a “bad” thing. I think it makes it more exciting and interesting and kids feel like they have accomplished something when they complete everything. This set is Made in China and being sold by a Chinese company on Amazon. The kit comes in a nice box, as shown on the listing pictures, which is easy to wrap, if you’re giving it as a gift.

NOT FOR BEGINNERS
My son has been begging me to learn how to sew, but aside from sewing some basic holes in things we haven’t had much of a chance to do anything else. When I saw this kit, I thought it would be perfect! It was advertised as a good beginner kit with all the pieces needed to learn. I have pretty intermediate sewing skills, but I have completed bigger hand sewn things like teddy bears made from clothes using patterns, and those came out great so I figured this would be cool to do with my son. What is has turned into is doing a very small piece at a time because he said it’s so stressful. To give you an idea, he’s 9 but he builds incredible things with his hands, so the fact that he is stressed over it says something. The instructions are minimal, and although it includes all the pieces, nothing is labeled so you have to start with spreading everything out and coming up with a game plan before undertaking. We’ve only been working on the adult foxes so far, and those pieces are small to work with, so I can only imagine how frustrating the smaller foxes are going to be to work with.Once completed, I think it will turn out to be a cool project, but it will take a LONG time before I see him actually finishing all the parts. I guess if anything, by the time he is done, he should have a pretty good grasp on how to create these things in the future. I’m giving it three stars because it isn’t really for beginners as advertised, and instead of ages 8+ I would say it is definitely closer to 12+ unless an adult is willing to help do a lot of the work. If you have a child that wants to do this independently, then I would suggest it for only older children. I would have preferred a single larger project to really get the feel of the stitches and placement before moving on to something as small and intricate as this.
