The Little Cyber Engineer

I'm an information security professional, and I use this book when teaching security to Girl Scouts (5 to 11 years old). It's colorful and entertaining enough to keep their attention, and it illustrates complex concepts in a kid-friendly way. I love the clear advice it gives about staying safe online.

I got this for my 2nd grader, and he loved it. I cannot wait for the next cyber books from this author/illustrator.

We purchased the paperback version for a young family member and I couldn't be more pleased. As a tech professional, I'm aware that the author is a content creator across various platforms, where she has made a practice of explaining various tech topics in ways that are approachable and digestible for anyone. I think her content creation skills have prepared her well for her newest venture as a children's book author.Reading through the book before wrapping the gift, I loved the illustrations and how well the technical topics are handled. I pictures fill the pages and the drawings are full of color and motion. In addition to encouraging the child in the book that they, too, can become a cybersecurity engineer, the book also touches on the critical topic of cyber bullying, including coping skills for when kids inevitably encounter such behavior online (super bonus points for that!).We really hope that our family member enjoys this book and gains something from it, and, while I've been a fan of the author's online content for some time now, I'll absolutely be on the lookout for future children's books. To Amber - keep up the amazing work!

My son loves having me read this before bed time. It has sparked some good discussion about the various terms in the book, and what daddy does at work.

For young readers, I was very pleased with the explanations. It covers a lot of surface territory, but gives words for kids and parents if they choose to dive deeper into the cybersecurity principles.

In my opinion, this book hits the mark for parents looking to inspire their kids to explore a future in cybersecurity, while also making for a great bedtime story. It provides a high-level overview of key cybersecurity concepts but keeps the artwork and rums of a great children’s book. I am a big fan and will look for more books from the author on this topic.

As someone who works in the cybersecurity field, I find myself often struggling to share even the basics about my day to day, and the things that I’m passionate about. I think cyber is one of the least understood fields we have. This book I believe will go a long way to helping a whole new generation (and maybe even the parents reading it to them!) understand cyber better to, at the very least better defend and protect their own data and networks, but maybe even pursue careers in cyber, adding to the desperately needed number of defenders!Wonderful book!
